    Default 3way Vanek-Kessel-Yakupov

Conducting a 3-way deal. Does this deal look good for me? Is it reasonable for all parties. (League and team in sig.)

I give to team B: Yakupov (farm team - no roster spot required) + 2nd round prospect draft pick.

Team B gives to team C: Vanek

Team C give to me: Kessel

    Team B Roster:
    Valtteri Filppula
    Thomas Vanek
    Ryan O'Reilly
    Wayne Simmonds
    Brandon Dubinksy
    Kyle Okposo
    Rich Peverley
    Patrik Berglund
    David Jones
    Artem Anisimov
    Colin Wilson
    Christian Ehrhoff
    Zach Bogosian
    Alex Steen
    Dmitry Kulikov
    Jamie McBain
    Rene Bourque
    Andrew Shaw
    Victor Hedman
    Marek Zidlicky
    Slava Voynov
    Steve Downie
    Travis Zajac

    Goalies
    Josh Harding
    Michal Neuvirth
    James Reimer

    Team C Roster:
    Jason Spezza
    Ilya Kovalchuk
    Phil Kessel
    John Tavares
    Erik Karlsson
    Pavel Datsyuk
    Patrick Kane
    Michael Ryder
    Corey Perry
    Ryan Getzlaf
    Jiri Hudler
    Alex Tanguay
    Keith Yandle
    Duncan Keith
    Tim Connolly
    Tomas Kaberle
    Jay Bouwmeester
    Alex Burmistrov
    John-Michael Liles
    Vladimir Sobotka
    Simon Gagne
    Joni Pitkanen

    Goalies
    Richard Bachman
    Devan Dubnyk
    Kari Lehtonen
    Carey Price

Team B is likely the worst team in the league and team C is arguably the best team in the league. I have just transitioned from building for the future to building for now.

My bottom line in this deal is my Yakupov and 2nd round pick, for Kessel. Last year's 2nd round picks were the following players, just to give you an idea of the value of the pick:

    Nick Bjugstad
    Zemgus Girgenson
    Morgan Reilly
    Ty Rattie
    Mark Stone
    Cody Ceci
    Devante Smith-Pelly
    Joe Morrow
    Brendan Shinnimin
    Brandon Saad
    Griffin Reinhart
    Derick Pouliot

For Team C this upgrades his 3rd LW from Tanguay to Datsyuk, but downgrades his 3rd RW from Kane to Ryder. Team C probably wants more in this deal as nobody believes Vanek to be as dominant as he is now.

How much do you think Kessel outperforms Yakupov by this year? Would I be better off to just call up Yakupov and dodge this trade?

Really appreciate any thoughts on this deal. Another pro of moving yakupov for kessel is then I don't have two RWs from the same team. In a league with a deep bench it helps to have a variety of teams represented in your roster.

I know I put a lot of info in, but even a gut reaction would be appreciated. Thanks again.

I understand you're in "win now" mode, and that Kessel is a world class player. He will out-score Yak this year, and it will likely be by 10-15 points...maybe a bit less.

However, everything I've read about Yak is that he is special player...potential for 100 points. A lot of people on these boards preach "proven over potential", but there are exceptions to the rule. Yak is one of those. He hits, he competes hard, and he's on a team where he should be surrounded with other elite players for years to come.

As good as Kessel is, I would hold on to Yak if I were you.

    Good luck.

Have to agree with Achilles here - I think you'll end up regretting a move like that.

Thanks for the input. I do think Kessel, will rebound/his bad luck will end. Everything I read on him says his effort and skill are evident, but the stat line simply isn't reflecting that.

How many years till you think Yakupov catches/eclipses Kessel in production? My team is still fairly young, not that Kessel is old, but I am looking to start producing sooner rather than later.

So I'm sorry to keep asking for advice on this deal, but I guess I'm hoping for some stats in an argument.

Like so far this season Kessel has 46 shots and 1 goal. Yakupov has 18 shots and 5 goals.

That mean Nail is currently shooting at 28% which is really unsustainable. Kessel for his career has a shooting percent of 10.8% which I wouldn't say is high (I don't know the average shooting percentage of fantasy relevant players), but since Kessel shoots like a mad man, he scores regularly.

Does Kessel's low shooting percentage and high shots make him more or less desirable than Yakupov? Yakupov's shooting percentage has to drop, but he might consistently shoot at a much higher percentage than Kessel. Though is low shot totals are a negative.

Kessel is very low on PIMs, what do you expect from Yakupov? I am in a multi-cat league, so any argument to that effect would be appreciated.
