Nice read but I've read a few articles of this nature during the morning. It's all purely speculation and media tire kicking. I wouldn't judge the nature of the injury based on material like this. We'll know for sure sometime today.

It was a shitty article. Karri Ramo in AHL and to be called up to back up Irving? Shows pretty clear lack of knowledge about Flames goaltending situation.

    From Rotoworld:
The Calgary Flames announced Wednesday that goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
Sounds encouraging yet worrisome at the same time. Still unknown what exactly is ailing him.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

    @SUNRandySportak
#Flames will have Danny Taylor in Columbus tonight. Kiprusoff still "day to day" and Feasters said they don't believe it's long-term.

    Shawn Mitchell ‏@smitchcd
#Flames G Mikka Kiprusoff definitely out vs. #CBJ. Day to day with lower body, will be evaluated further here in Columbus.
Maybe a small ray of hope that they didn't send him straight back to Calgary. One would think if it was really serious they would have send him back to Calgary to start treatment with the medical staff that didn't accompany the team on the road.

That or the Flames are just too cheap to buy him a plane ticket. As they fly over Calgary on the way to Vancouver they'll give him a parachute and push him out.

Not necessarily. Irving should have the inside track on the start with Taylor as the backup. Not written in stone, but that would be the logical setup.

Wouldn't it be better to be vague and optimistic now especially if it is a serious injury, you would lose bargaining power to obtain another team's goalie.

As per Sportsnet Fan 960: Kipper has grade 1 MCL sprain, likely out for the next week, and has been placed on IR.

    Nice find.

A week isn't too bad but in a condensed year its more than normal.

Including yesterdays game, Feb 7 -14 he will miss 4 games. There is a game on the 15 that he will probably miss too. Probably, 5 games if no setbacks.

Kipper's IR status is retroactive to Feb. 5th, so he would be eligible to comeback on Tuesday. Did see this tweet a short time ago....

    Roger Millions ‏@RogMillions
It should be noted saw Miikka walking after game last night, and saw a lot of improvement in the last 36 hours...#Flames
Take it with a grain of salt, this is the observations of a writer not a doctor, but maybe a glimmer of hope that he will be back soon. The fact that the Flames made it retro is the best reason for optimism.

I'm all over the twitterverse this morning!

    Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
Kiprusoff skating today. If all goes well, Kiprusoff comes off IR and likely to play Wednesday. MacDonald expected to be Kiprusoff's backup.
