Default Ian White - not in the top 100?

Just acquired White in a deal for busto Okposo to help my D and was a little surprised to see that he wasn't even in Dobber's top 100

Interested in some opinions of him - in a points only pool like mine, he's actually pretty valuable.

What do you expect from him the rest of the way? I'm not expecting the second coming of Lidstrom, but I think he should put up decent points and get top PP time with Kronwall. That's the hope, anyway.

    Thanks

there is 30 teams with at least 3 offensive d man so its 90 already

than you have some teams with more then 3 or with great prospects so yes i'm not that surprise that he is not in top 100.

and like Dobber said.... read this... :

Ratings are a reflection of a player's trade value in 'rollover' fantasy hockey pools. They reflect a players predicted points, historical points, injury risk, team "reputation/potential powerhouse" value, powerplay time, and long-term potential. Basically, if you are in a keeper league, this is my opinion based on my statistical model of a player's 'trade value'. Naturally, individual trades would depend on the direction you are taking with your team at the present.

You have you answer Sir !!!!

It was exactly in reading this that I am puzzled. White is an offensive guy who has scored 13 goals, plays on a powerhouse team and happens to be utilized with Kronwall on the top PP. He's young enough to have upside as well.

Anyways, not really the point, I am mostly interested in people's opinion of him for the rest of the year, given it is basically he and Kronwall with any offensive game

KNEW I shouldn't have made it about the top 100. lol

Mostly interested in what people think he will do, now that it will be him and Kron (I assume) on the top unit.

I wonder if there is ANY chance he does better without Lidstrom

I would say no chance he's in the top-100, if you're including prospects.

He's generally in the mid-20's point-wise every year...and had one good year playing alongside one of the greatest defensemen of alltime. Add to that that he's often injured, and I'm not sure why we'd consider him much of a find for a blueliner.

I haven't looked at Dobber's list, but White not being in the top-100 doesn't surprise me at all.

Offensively White is more of a tease than anything. The rankings are for points-only leagues so his 13 goals are equal in value to his assists.

Theres no chance he does better without Lidstrom. The entire Detroit D unit takes a hit without Lidstrom. He made players better, that's why he was so valuable.

I really like Ian White though, he works really hard and that will bring him some success but i wouldn't expect the 30+ points and high +/- without Lidstrom as his partner.

i think ian white is pretty good, he also posted ridicolous shots on goal last season. He should be on top powerplay.

I think Kronwall and Smith are the Dmen you want from Detroit.

Ian White is a solid #3-#4 D not more. Im not suprise he is not on top 100.

Edit: actually, he plays on the third D line at Detroit, I think it's speak for itself.

I'm not a White believer myself. He has only put up two seasons over 30 points, with the first I'd attribute to an anomaly and the second to playing with the best defence man in recent history. I think that playing with Lidstrom was just a way to balance the defence, and while Kronwall is no slouch he won't be able to cover for White like ol' Nic could.

He should be fine for spot fills, but he should be considered a depth D at best. It's not a bad acquisition though considering you traded Okposo for him.
