    Default Pens PP WTF?

Honestly, I don't get it. I'm a die hard Pens fan and I can barely watch this PP anymore. There is no flow and they clearly lack someone who wants to take control. Entry into the zone is decent but once they get in they get lost, almost as if they don't know who should pull the trigger. It's mind boggling when you have the quality they do, coaching has to fix this quick because the PP is totally sinking them. I also don't know why Kunitz is on the 1st unit, I don't care if he gets infront of the net. He isn't on the same wave length of Crosby/Malkin and I say they throw Cooke infront of the net cause at least he wil stay there and not interfere with the PP flow as much.

I say the use Malkin to QB the PP and use Crosby off the sideboards a lot more. The 4 on 3 for 2 min was prety embarassing...

    Crosby looks very ordinary.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

This could be coincidence but last season was the first since they canned Therrien and brought in Bylsma that the Penguins had a good PP. Before last season (5th in the league) they had seasons of 19th, 20th and 25th. What was different about last season? Maybe Crosby messes things up somehow but like I said, could be coincidence.

You might be on to something here. Maybe a good PP needs a forward who is 'the guy' and with Sid and Geno on the ice together nobody is sure who it is.

EDIT: as I was posting this... Neal from Sid & Geno on the PP. You're welcome Pens fans, you're welcome.

Yeah, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. I'll be curious to see if the Penguins power play takes off this season or not. It SHOULD based on that talent but clearly coaching matters.

Something seems fishy in Pens land, I understand we are only 6 games in or so but something doesn't feel right. I feel like there is something going on internally that may surface sooner rather than later (e.g. Crosby health, locker room feuds, loss of Staal?).

I think that statement applies to just about any negative comment towards any team in the league.

"Our ticket prices are a rip off"...
"Our star player can't BUY a goal"...
    "Our goalies suck"...
"We have no future and no draft picks"...
"Our star defenseman couldn't hit the side of a house with his slapshot"...
"We're gonna miss the playoffs yet again"...

I didn't watch the game tonight, but I thought I read that they were going to use Malkin on the point on the PP.

    Did they?

They did use Malkin on the point instead of Neal. When they actually got control in the NYR zone, Malkin ran the pp from the point while Crosby and Letang played the half boards. This to me is the best option for them. Now they just need to work on their entry to the offensive zone and forcing the puck to the net. While their pp wasn't great it was the best I've seen from them this season.
    12 team points only keeper (G = 1, A = 1, W = 2, SO = 2)
Dress 6 forwards, 4 defensemen, 2 goalies, weekly starts

7 games into the season and the Pens are 4 and 3, Sidney has 7 points in those 7 games, and there is a thread here with more than one person questioning what is wrong with him. Seriously?

Give it more than 7 games guys. I promise you, it will come together for them.

Crosby had 12 points in his first 7 games last season. I know that included 4 points in his first game back. Just sayin'.

In 09-10 season Crosby had 5 points in the first 7 games of the season. He finished the season with 109 points. Just saying.
