I agree... this seems like a good time to capitalize.
I agree with the thinking. Just make sure that Smith will be OK long run.
You need 2.5 solid goalies in our league to compete (2 + a solid backup could do it). I'm in a position of strength with Lundy, Schneider and Bryz and the Mike Smith owner only has him and Brian Elliott. He proposes skater for goalie trade offers all the time in order to rectify his situation, but it's a deal that rarely happens in our league because goalies are at a premium. With Smith's injury though, his situation is a little more desperate.
Should I offer Bryz + skater for Smith + upgraded skater?
I can weather the storm if Smith is out longer term, while the other GM can't. Could be a good opportunity to upgrade a skater. He's got a lot of good offensive talent on his team (hence the poor goaltending situation). There are a lot of options there, just wondered what people thought of the theory behind the trade. Full keeper league, in sig.

yeah that's a smart way to approach it I think, that's how you win trades long term. As Pengwin notes though, Smith needs to be OK for it to be worth it. His injury is not supposed to be serious but just doublecheck before pulling the trigger
