Is it just me or does all this leak to the media stuff an attempt to put pressure on Toronto to make the deal.

It seems pretty clear to me that he's going to the NY Jets once they've figured out what to do with Tim Tebow.

Katie Strang of ESPN: Islanders Nino Niederreiter has requested a trade according to a source. He is unhappy with his situation in New York and feels he may be better served playing in a new organization. Niederreiter’s agent approached GM Garth Snow last week, though Snow is believed to not being willing to trading him at the moment.

I hope Gillis puts an end to this goalie circus soon!

I still think the right move to make is trading Schneider. And I don't think Gillis has an offer from a "surprise" team. He's just sending an invite out to other gm's, telling them he hasn't received an offer worth taking yet and wants others to create a market for this guy aside from teams already involved.

Having said all that, I say he goes to NJ.

I agree, have written that notion in the forums before, and started a reply earlier about trading Schneider but held off posting it. No way they come out of the west with the Blues' size and the Wild's muscle, in my opinion.

Edit: Lu is a great tender, their window to win a cup is closing, Schneider will fetch better pieces.

Haven't read the rest of the thread, but Winnipeg or Edmonton seem like decent fits to me.

Unless the whole rumour is just crap.

I always thought NJ would be a good fit for him and for NJ - Brodeur is on the way out and NJ seems to have no problem with keeping goalies around a looooong time. Not sure what the return would be though.

detroit surely would be a surprise team

however the article says something about the other team needing to make a move first

detroit can absorb the cap hit the idea that a move needs to be made leads me to believe it is either a cap tight team or a team right up against their budget

of course i couldnt be any more vague

Detroit by a country mile is the smartest, best run team in the league.

I really dont see Ken Holland doing that. But heck, I could be wrong.
