    Yahoo update today...now Versteeg has a groin injury:

    Versteeg did not make the road trip with the Panthers and is suffering from a groin injury, according to George Richards of the Miami Herald.
    Recommendation: No word on the extent of the injury or how long Versteeg may be out. He will definitely miss Monday's game. He played in 71 games for the Panthers last season, scoring 23 goals.

    Just got back from a rigorous Panthers practice at Saveology.com Iceplex and the good news is that forward Kris Versteeg will make his delayed season debut tomorrow night against the red-hot Lightning. Versteeg joked that he may need an oxygen mask on the bench after not playing a hockey game for nine months. He doesn’t remember ever going that long without playing a game.

    He will join Tomas Fleischmann and Tomas Kopecky on the top line as center Stephen Weiss gave it the old college try in a solitary pre-practice skate but clearly was disgusted by the end knowing that his injured groin (according to a source) isn’t ready for action.

    Dineen said injured winger Kris Versteeg (upper body soreness) was doubtful for Saturday's game. Versteeg missed Thursday's game against Montreal after being run over from behind Tuesday.

    Versteeg skated with Jovanovski before Florida's optional practice Friday morning.

    Kris Versteeg (upper body) probably won't play on Saturday.
    Versteeg wasn't able to play on Thursday. The good news is that he did participate in Friday's optional practice.

    Kris Versteeg is listed as doubtful for Saturday afternoon's contest against the Lightning.
    He is still dealing with a chest injury he sustained in Tuesday's game. Keep Versteeg on reserve until further notice.
