    Default Doughty or Edler?

Who do you prefer for this year, and the future, for the league in my sig?

My thoughts: Edler is more reliable, but Doughty's potential upside is higher. Edler is the top PP man(should I be worried about Garrison) on a very good team. So is Doughty. Edler is a beast on the ice, and good for 150+ hits when healthy. Ditto Doughty.

Edler has back issues, Doughty has a cup hangover.

Who do you prefer, and why?
    10-team Keeper. Everyone keeps 12 + 1 G + 3 "young keepers" (players with less than 164 NHL games played), and 1G. Points for G (2), A (2), PIM (.2), Hit (.2), Blk (.2) SHP(1), W(4), SO(8) Must dress 4C, 4LW, 4RW, 6D, 2G

C - Crosby, Backstrom, Kuznetsov, Eichel, Johansen
LW - E. Kane, Drouin, Schenn, Miller, Foligno, Zucker
RW - Wheeler, Stone, Lindholm, Oshie, Tolvanen
D - Karlsson, Carlson, Dumba, Nurse, Ceci, Pionk, Larsson, Montour
G - Murray, Quick, Koskinen, Blackwood, Georgiev

    Minors - Turcotte, Bouchard, Kaprizov

    Doughty.

Less health risk and more upside, IMO.

I wouldn't even think twice about moving Edler to get Doughty. Any hit over a year or two would be overridden by the long term benefits.

Doughty. His potential is too much to look past, and he's a few years younger, which doesn't hurt.

I guess I am the odd man out here, as I would take Edler. I have never bought into the Doughty hype and the one time I went against my gut and drafted him, (last year) he did basically nothing for me. He had one great season, but the other three were far from special, and so I will believe he is as valuable as many on here say when I see it.

At the same time I have had Edler on a lot of my teams over the past four years and have never been disappointed. He is a beast IMO, and while he has had some nagging injuries, he has been able to play through them except for two years ago. On top of that, his hits, shots and points all went up last year and I see no reason for him not to be able to either stay at that level or maybe even build on it a bit.

Just my two cents, could be wrong.

I would add, though, that if all you care about is what more of a 'sure thing' when it comes to being healthy, Doughty is probably your best bet. But I would rather take a chance on Edler, since he is far from a band aid boy.

Thanks for the dissenting voice Blunas. I'm actually a big believer in Edler too. To me it's very close, notwithstanding the learned opinions on Doughty's long term upside. I prefer Edler's quiet work ethic, and I prefer the Canucks PP to LA's. However I do admit that Doughty seems to have more of an ability to take over games and stand above his peers.

I made the offer, but I'm not 100%. I came in 2nd last year and I need to take some risks and be blessed with good luck to beat our champ, because his team includes Malkin, Backstrom, Spezz, the Sedins, Neal, Perry and Skinner. To win you have to take risks.

If it gets accepted I will post an update.

    Thanks to everyone.
