I think Bryz will bounce back. Philly improved their D with transactions for the stretch last year and he played better. Kunitz should add to your PIMs. All in all, I think it will be close. It will be hard to determine who got the better or worse of the deal until we see where Lu ends up.

Richards can be invaluable this year.
Luongo will be traded most likely and so much depends on where he lands.

Kunitz is sure bet to perform
Bryzgalov should be better this year as long as no one plays him against Bruins .

I think you tried to reduce your own risk by getting rid of Luongo and getting another goalie. Bryz is not much safer bet.

Tbh i think you shouldn't have let Richards go. Too valuable young player.

If Kunitz would be 25 i could see this as more balanced but now i think that Richards was too big of a loss.

If you win your league this year with Kunitz and Bryz plays awesome season you might get ahead as a winner of this trade.

Season 13-14 and 14-15 you will be better of to NOT compare Kunitz and Richards stats to each other coz Kunitz will start to get old and Richards starts to enter his prime.

What type of league (H2H/Roto)? You should specify this in your signature as it could have a significant effect sometimes.

As for the question, I'd go Bryzgalov and Kunitz. Bryzgalov on a better team (regardless where Luongo goes) and with wins and shutouts should be valuable. Kunitz with Crosby - enough said.

Re: age - in a keep 9 I don't think that matters much as I doubt either Richards or Kunitz will be keepers.

Damn i missed the keep 9 rule

    Sorry about this.

This changes basicly everything i said. The age and "next year" is not an issue if you planned to drop Richards anyway.

EDIT: In this case i believe you won it coz Kunitz is surer bet to perform than Richards (even tho i still very much believe in Richards) and Luongo is higher risk than Bryz.

Thanks for the replies. Kunitz is definitely not a keeper for me. I have 10 players I'll have to decide on what to do next year. Do I roll with 2 goalie keepers and drop Getzlaf, or a D-man? Time will tell...

To be honest, I like Lou better than Bryz as a goalie, but Bryz has the better team in front of him.

Horrorfan: It's a roto league. No h2h. But now I'm curious... aside from the pro's and cons of having several players from the same NHL club on your fantasy team when would a h2h league value a player differently than a roto league with the same scoring cats?

One example is that in a H2H league you don't have to be strong in all categories to win your matchup. Therefore, you can afford to be slightly weaker in some so when evaluating players, certain categories (such as easier peripheral ones) don't need to be focused on as much. In roto, category balance is key, so I wouldn't easily dismiss one category given it usually has equal value to all others being used. Of course, some categories are more easily found than others, but have a more significant effect than they do in H2H.

Another example relating to your settings is shutouts. Rarely does it have an effect on the matchup in H2H but in roto it has a very significant effect on the overall standings, given their infrequency. But it's not the best example as shutouts aren't the most predictable.

Well said Horrorfan. Having never played in a H2H league, I've never thought about punting a category, but I can see how that makes a lot of sence. Thanks!
