after all is said and done, he'll be back. he probably really wants to play in the KHL all star game. but he won't risk a IIHF ban from the Olympics. especially since they're in his home country.

if he stays, i'm pretty cooked for this season at least. as are the Devils. gotta wonder when they start worrying about that pick they have to forfeit. no clue why they didn't give it up last draft.

see i'm actually on the side of the KHL in this one...I agree that a labor agreement between the two is necessary but my view is that if one or the other shits the bed with a bullshit lockout that harms the fans, the cities, the sport itself then **** you, you made your bed you should lie in it. Not permanently of course but for the course of the current season absolutely, its not fair that the NHL gets to yank players back against their will just because they finally decided to stop being a$$holes and have a season. I think it should be up to the player which contract he honors for the season if either of his leagues abandon him

I agree, it should have been in their contract when they signed their foreign deals.

I like it A LOT. Perhaps that would act as a lockout deterrent.

Wow, I wish it was this way! There is no way the CBA negotiations would go past the expiration date if it were. Granted, that would give the players a MASSIVE trump card and depending on how many players play elsewhere after the deal expires it could cancel the season dead before it would have a chance to start.

I couldn't agree more. I'm right on board with Medvedev and everything he's said. NHL needs to get off their high horse.

See I just really want this to play out like some spy-games shit where people are actively trying to kidnap Kovalchuk and bring him to New Jersey while the Russian government tries to stop them.

you're completely missing the point...the players just want to play hockey (they wanna get paid too but that's semi-irrelevant, both leagues can pay) and the fans want to watch hockey. So why does the NHL get to be the big dick while behaving like, well, the big dick?

See I always assumed that Bettman's behaviour was the result of what he was lacking rather than what he was packing.
