How many do you start in each position (which you should also add in your signature)?

No chance. Your league favors forwards over D anyways

if its the league in your sig i would worry more about a goalie than adding another defenseman considering karlsson

Good point. My signature is sort of half done now because I was waiting for the draft.

    hf, asked the right question.

Eberle vs. Weber is apples-to-oranges comparison.
Their value is based on roster allocation.

If you rostered 8F,1D... Eberle is bigger value.
If you rostered 1F,8D... Weber is bigger value.

In a 8F/3D... my gut tells me to prefer Eberle. (but oddly, this is wrong)
    You've got 8Fx14 = 112 forwards in play.
    You've got 3Dx14 = 42 defense in play.

    Compare it this way:
Eberle's value relative to forward #113. (In this list I made, standard 6-cat league, Eberle is a 4.80 vs F#113 as 3.99). This gives Eberle a +0.81 value in this league.
Weber's value relative to defense #42. (In this list I made, standard 6-cat league, Weber is a 5.28 vs. D#43 as 3.26). This gives Weber has +2.02 value in this league.

By "relative value", this is how I do my comparisons, Shea Weber is the better side.
Eberle doesn't register many PIM... and surprisingly this hurts his value in multi-cat pools.

Good analysis by Pengwin, but I'm going to look at from a different perspective. It's possible that one player is more valuable based on a specific formula, but that doesn't mean that they are more valuable to your squad.

If you gave up Eberle, your top RW would be Carter, who's no slouch, but not sure I'd want to rely on him as the anchor. Whereas, you already have an elite D in Karlsson. Furthermore, Getzlaf, Kane, Pacioretty and Brown already give you loads of hits, and probably a decent amount of PIM. I think you can afford to have some players who don't have as much multiple category strength, but are solid (and could be even stronger) offensively. Roster balance by categories doesn't have to mean that each player has to be a high end multiple category contributor. Some will argue that you need more of those multi cat guys to be successful, but I would argue that there are plenty of ways of structuring your roster depending on your strategy.

Finally, this is a H2H league with 11 categories, so I wouldn't worry as much on having to be solid/strong in all the categories, when you can be successful even if you have a weakness. I'm not saying ignore categories on purpose, but I wouldn't base my decision too much on that factor.

Personally, I'd stick with Eberle given your situation, team structure and league settings. It's a good offer though, and I can see arguments for both sides.
