Keeper Help
Hey guys need some help, I had a very strong season last season and traded most of my early picks (rounds 1,2,3,4) for help down the stretch and into playoffs but ultimately lost in the finals. Now since most teams in the playoff hunt did this there are 3 other teams in my situation as well and 4 teams who hold most of the early picks in the draft (e.g. one team will draft 11 players in the first 4 rounds of the draft, where i will draft none). So with that in mind what should i do keeper wise going into this season?
10 team h2h league with 5 keepers.
Categories G,A,+/-,PPP,SHP,SOG,HIT/W,GAA,SV%,SHO
Start 3C, 2LW, 2 RW, 1W, 1F, 4D, 2G

Really only down to the last spot. Remember though that winning this year while not entirely impossible is not my top priority, want to look to having a big year next season when it should be an even playing field.

Meaning I would keep Benn, but I can see an argument for Eberle. I think Benn is a better multi-cat guy. But those would really be the only 2 players I would consider.
I'd probably keep Piets, Benn or Eberle in the last spot. It's going to be hard to beat someone with 11 picks in the top 4 rds in a keep 5 league. See if you can trade some of your non essential players for picks from one of those teams.

This. I don't know when your draft is, but I would seriously try. For anyone that uses the argument "I can just draft them" you can counter with "Only if someone else doesn't before you." I'm not keeping Carey Price in a 10-team league, keep 5.
There are lots of goalies to go around.
You are rostering 10F each though, and I'd value forward depth.
Eberle & Benn are both emerging forwards and you are shooting to be a competitor in 2013-2014.
I agree with what Pengwin says. I never really considered changing your already decided keepers, but its not like the guy with 11 picks is going to take 5 goalies. You'll still have lots of goalie depth to choose from. I'd keep the same 5.
Keeping Price is a tough call.
Might want to roll with Byfuglien and Benn. Im a huge Byfuglien fan, then again hes a big fat guy who might come into the season out of shape.

Completely agree with this.
No way you keep Price in a keep 5. Tons a good goalies available, even in the later rounds.
I also agree with Benn and Eberle as the other keepers. Benn is going to be a stud starting this year and Eberle is going to keep producing in a very potent Oilers offense.
thanks guys, interesting answers never thought about not keeping price, just figured i'd always want keep a goalie of his calibre. Since the stacked teams wont be able to keep all their goalies after the season, i can easily draft a good tandem for the 13/14 season. But with therrien as coach of montreal i worry about losing out on some stellar stats from price and not being able to get him back.
I would try to trade them but currently we only do trades during the season.

Not something to worry about. Montreal is still a bad team. You'll be fine with whoever you get. In this format after Pengwins suggestion, the only goalies I would keep is probably Lundqvist and Quick.
