Here's the recent thread on St. Louis expectations over the next few years, if that helps.

If he would do MDZ and MSL for OEL and the 4th or something, I'd do it.

Straight up, not so sure - depends if you are trying to win over the next couple of years and at which position you need the most help. Obviously, OEL is the better keeper option, but it is all about winning, and MSL may help push you over the top.

Anything with MDZ and Marty for OEL and something minor is gold IMO

    Good luck

For your team's situation, if you could get Del Zotto with Martin St. Louis for OEL and a pick, I would be very pleased with that return.

I'm on the fence of St. Louis for OEL straight up. I kind of lean towards OEL, cause #1 stud defenders are hard to find in my leagues.

Have to agree wth Loco Man. MSL has gas in the tank for at least another year or two, and at a shortened season, does it not heavily favour the output of the more 'senior' players? I am an OEL owner and I think he's great, but he's also huge hype. Re: MSL - how many other NHL forwards (at a comparatively thin position like RW) have had as many points as MSL has consistently had over the last 5 years? How many other players have a DOWNSIDE of 75 points. I say take the deal and run.

Note: Above, I was referring to a deal with MSL and MDZ for OEL. I would still probably take MSL for OEL straight up frankly, but I think your dealmaking is going in the right direction for sure.

So what's the good word? Did he take OEL and a 4th for MSL and MDZ??

I would take St. Louis for OEL straight up, because it is the push you need to get the win on the season.

When you factor in Del Zotto in, the trade is a no brainer. OEL is a fantastic D, even better in real life than in fantasy, I think that's what is making people lean towards him. But the offer of St. Louis and Del Zotto is way too good to pass on. Fantasy wise Del Zotto is every bit as good as OEL, and your getting an elite RW in St. Louis.

This is one of those trades that's really tough to do b/c you've got an older forward vs a young defenseman. Different age, different position, different teams (as in Phx = lowscoring and TBay= playing with Stamkos).

If you've got a chance to win in the next couple/few years, I think its worth grabbing StLouis. I wouldn't say that about a lot of 35+ players, but he strikes me as the next Selanne or Whitney -- a point-per-game guy (or close) into his 40's.

OEL is an absolute stud in the making, but some of his value (as often mentioned on these boards) may be more of the real-life variety as opposed to fantasy variety. That may change if Yandle is moved, but that hasn't happened yet.

So, in summary, I'd say go for St Louis if you have a chance to win soon. But if you hold on to OEL, no one would snicker at you.

And if you can get DelZotto as part of the deal, that makes picking up St Louis even more palatable.

If you think this deal puts you over the edge to win, do it. Otherwise, I think I would stand pat.
