Good point, but there's been a lot of speculation since November that things have been "close". So he might be as fed up with the false optimism as us.

Like I said, this is just insurance to make sure he plays games this year at some point. I'm sure he didn't want to play during the first half because of his concussion woes and not wanting to get hurt in case the league came back. With the drop dead date so close it makes sense for Letang to sign now so he guarantees games for the second half of the season be it in the NHL or elsewhere.
Do we even know if Letang boarded his flight???? Haha, lands in Siberia, buys a bottle of Vodka, gets BACK on plane......hope he had lots of Airmiles
