    Default JVR vs Voracek

No trade in question here, I just have a hard time comparing the two.

In a league that counts G, A, +/-, PIM, SOG, PPP who would you prefer?

Up until last season, I would say most would have said JVR. But now it's quite interesting. Voracek will likely be on Giroux's right while JVR could center Kessel and Lupul.

I would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this comparison.

Metaldude, think this could be a cagematch?

JVR isn't a great roto player so it's not like his size gives him an advantage in this format. Voracek for me. I just think he's a better offensive player and that really stands out in this comparison IMO.

If I had my choice between the two it would be an easy choice. Voracek all the way.

I would take Voracek as well, he's showen more consistent growth in his stats. I view JVR as much more of a mabye so would go for what I view as the safer bet.

I think the overwhelming response would be for Voracek if you're asking people for a comparison between the two. Voracek's stock is very high right now...a lot of people are jumping on the hype.

    Jvr: G, SOG
    Voracek: A, +/-, PPP

PIMs are a wash. They are pretty close, but the deciding factors for me are upside (I think voracek's is slightly higher) and durability (voracek has proven to be much more durable - only 9 total games missed in 4 seasons).

I highly doubt JVR will be utilized as a C in Toronto... his size, speed and overall playing style scream power forward (winger).

I agree. Just basing it on the propaganda coming out of Toronto.

Even if he's on the LW with Kessel on the RW, it't not a bad thing.

With that said, I like Voracek a little more.

Every year there seems to be another reason to hype Voracek. That ship has sailed for me. What you see is what you get IMO. Not that its all that bad....but i would accept JVR for Voravek if I was offered. It would be a gamble .... But one I would go for.

Looks lie I am in the minority.....but thats my feelings.

    You're not in the minority.

I've always felt Voracek is overhyped. Having said that... playing shotgun to Giroux can have magical wonders to even the most overhyped of players.

Deep down I think JVR has considerably more potential than Voracek, but he comes with his own baggage (shitty team, injury history).

Personally, I think both are a product of their surroundings. Both legitimate 60 - 65 points players in their own right, but possess an opportunity to be even better given their situations.

    So let's compare each.

JVR is rumored to be either behind lupol on the depth chart on the LW, perhaps over taking the incumbent. The chances of him lining up at Centre is unlikely...like (I think it was) Blayze said.

Voracek is rumored to be the #1 RW flanking one of the top 5 players in the league. Even if he slips to 2nd line, he likely maintains his #1 PP minutes which he has already demonstrated his value for.

So...what situation would be better for an above average youngster with upside?
A)Winger to Giroux and opposite Hartnell (or whoever).
B)winger on the same line as Kessel...with no substantial Center?

    There in lies your answer.

And while I am a masochistic Leaf fan...I'm also a Voracek Owner! Nuff said for me!

I'd go with Voracek here without much if any hesitation.
