Default Trying to trade for Giroux need help!

Hey guys would like to land Giroux what would be a solid offer that might get him I was gonna package players with my 2013 and 2014 1st rd picks. My team is on the bottom and its a keeper dynasty that drops 4 each year. Lets see your ideas thanks!

Does the other GM have any needs? That could make this a little easier.

Not really just has interest in trading him but said it would take a good offer.

Generally after a season like the one Giroux had, you're going to have to overpay, but you have some good pieces to make this deal happen.

As a rule, the biggest piece you give up has to be someone who's upside matches the player you're trading for's downside. So if you figure Giroux's low end value is 80 pts, then you need to pitch him somebody who's likely to roughly that, give or take 5 points. So you're looking for a 75pt guy. So we're talking Eberle, Hall, Landeskog, Eriksson, Duchene or maybe Pacioretty (ordered in terms of where I see their value, top to bottom).
Then you have to pay for the descripency between Giroux and the main piece you're offering. 2 firsts is good, but if you really want to seal this, I would suggest throwing in a prospect and use one of the firsts as a kicker. Then if need be, you can throw in a lower draft pick (2nd or 3rd) if he's really dragging his feet.

My suggestion: Try to move one of Duchene/Eriksson/Landeskog/Pacioretty coupled with Granlund and a 1st. It may feel like an overpayment, but thats the price you pay for top end talent. Way I see it, if you can get an equal or better return on your investment down the line, it was worth it. All about trade value.

Funny how a lot of suggestions have been referenced as overpayments. I see them all as lowball offers, personally.

For Giroux, I think you should start with what you would offer for Crosby, then dial it back two or three notches. That means at least one of Eberle or Hall must be in the offer... potentially both.

If you're realistic about grabbing Giroux, I would start with Eberle, one from the Duchene/Eriksson/Landeskog/Pacioretty group, and your 1st rounder in 2013 and 2014.

    [sigh] I miss hockey.

If someone offered me this ^^^ for my Giroux, I would laugh and find it hard to even counter. I consider Giroux to be the #4 or 5 after Crosby, Malkin and Stamkos in almost any league.

Obviously with your team you'd want so much more for Giroux... you're not hurting at all lol.

Are the other managers in your league ******ed? How do you have 4 of the best 6 players in the league(Crosby/Malkin/Tavares/Giroux), arguably 2 of the best 6 d-men, and the best goalie lol

My league is strong... just a combination of shrewd drafting and clever trading. Short of giving you my draft and trade log (and it is fascinating because, man, did I inherit the most godawful team when I entered this league 12 years ago), I'll say the most important thing is knowing that, in order to get value you have to be prepared to give up value... which brings us back to this thread.

Giroux is worth more than what everyone here is suggesting. He's basically a lite version of Crosby and Chelios, rolled up into one.

p.s. What will really blow your mind is that I had Stamkos for the first two years of his career, as well... traded him away (again, to get value you have to be prepared to give up value).

I traded for Giroux a couple of weeks ago.

I gave up Eberle a 1st and two 3rd's. Totally worth it. We actually just had our draft and I hadn't looked at what he got with the picks.

So it was Eberle, Franzen, Dubnyk, B. Schenn.

I hear you, but I would consider it if it helped to ease losing a player he covets who would otherwise be lost in the deal.

I think a damn good NHLer + a top flight prospect + high pick is what you need to offer. At this point in his career Giroux is at worst a ppg player who will more often than not be in the 90 - 100pt and possibly topping 100. You could offer Ebs (at least a 70pt player) + Granlund + 1(14). That should be attractive.

Sent a couple different offers just waiting for a response. What's everyone's thought on me offering Duchene or Landeskog and a 1st for Tavares?

As a Tavares owner in one league, I wouldn't go for that. Dude has top 3-5 potential and should be a regular 90pt player. I think you'd have to put forth more of a proven package of two players, where a pick is something to push the deal through.
