    Default Too much for Malkin?

    I have the opportunity to acquire Malkin in my limited keeper; see below for details.

    12 team H2H partial keeper (keep 8 + 10 farm <=82 GP & age <25)
    Start 12 F, 6 D, 2 G
    G=4, A=3, PPP=3, SHG=3, PIM=0.5, +/-=1, SOG=0.2, BLK=0.5 / W=3, GA=-1, SV=0.3, SHO=3

    Current keepers: Giroux, Tavares, Kopitar, Parise, Zetterberg, Weber, Miller, Luongo

    Farm: Tarasenko, Baertschi, Markstrom, Bernier, Bjugstad, Murphy, Orlov, Josefson, Watson, Colborne.

    Reserves: Brown, Burrows, Okposo, Dubinsky.

    Finally: the offer on the table is Malkin for Giroux + Tavares/Kopitar/Parise.

    I would be most willing to include Parise rather than Tavares or Giroux. Would this be fair? I know that getting the best player in a limited keeper is a big deal, but this would likely make my last keeper Brown which is kind of weak. What do you guys think? I'm pretty torn.

    If you could do it for Parise/Kopitar I would do it.

    Giroux + Parise is the best of what you posted, but I'd have a hard time doing that.

    Just looking at Points...

    Malkin - 110 pts
    Brown - 60 pts
    Total - 170 pts

    Giroux - 90 pts
    Parise - 75 pts
    165 pts

    Hmmmm... maybe I would do it. That opens up your last keeper slots for when you want to call up one of your prospects. Tough call.. could go either way.

    Out of curiosity what was the point production from all of these guys given your scoring settings last year?

    You will definitely have to include Giroux... I think that is a given. i think as long as it's either Parise or Kopitar I'd be cool with that type of deal.

    Based on last season's stats:

    Malkin: 8.27 FP/G
    Giroux: 6.65 FP/G
    Kopitar: 5.26 FP/G
    Tavares: 5.18 FP/G
    Parise: 4.61 FP/G

    Looks like I sold Kopitar short.

    Even with keeping in mind that Parise will probably be better next season especially on the PP front, you also have to wonder if some of the folks on these boards will be right in guessing that Giroux's PP numbers may dip a bit. In any case, you're still getting one of the players with the highest upsides in the game and it's a limited keeper. You have some great prospect depth so there's always a chance you could use that to upgrade that last keeper.

    If it's Giroux + Parise I'd do it. If it's Giroux + Kopitar I'd still probably do it. I'd draw the line at Giroux + Tavares...too much long-term pain for me with that one.

    My two cents.

    Also worth mentioning, Burrows averaged 4.23 FP/G.

    Considering how Brown played from the 2nd half on.... I'd roll with him over Burrows.

    Agreed here with Bondon. Solid advice there. Send out the offer and good luck fishing....

    That is a deal you can afford to do. You'll lose a bit on the bottom end with Brown/Burrows but gain that much more on your top keeper.

    I would do Giroux + Kopitar/Parise.
    Giroux + Tavares would hurt you long term, even if you're getting Malkin in return.

    Just out of curiosity (and surprised it hasn't been mentioned)...

    What does your back end look like? Any solid D-men worth keeping in that last spot? I know they may not produce as much as Brown/Burrows, but if they are relatively much better than the competition, it may be worth it to keep one of them as your last keeper.
