And I have Pat Burns out from the library now. But I'm looking for more of hockey books that may not get a lot of fanfare that would be good reads.

For example, there's a new book about a Bruins player from the 60s-70s (can't remember who offhand: O'Reilly?). Is it worth the read?

Or the new book about Paul Henderson. Or the one about Bettman. etc.

Any suggestions on good hockey books?
I read Tough Guy: My Life on the Edge, by Bob Probert and Kirstie McLellan Day a few months back.

I thought it was excellent, couldn't put it down.

Check and see if your library has a copy of "Behind the Moves", interviews with every Stanley Cup winning GM and references to how they built their teams. It's a huge book, and the price tag is $100 to buy.

Don't think anyone has posted this.

Phil Esposito Auto-Biography : Thunder and Lightning

One of the funniest, realest, most down-to-earth books ever read. Phil really lets you INTO his life. From the time he saw Andre the Giants dick or his failed marriages to gettin' it on in a treehouse when he was a youngin'

I'll vouch for this book all damn day. You know what I'm going to read it again, I read it the first time when I was like 15 LOL, probably would understand certain parts better now.

Theo Fleury's book is supposed to be quite good.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'll definitely be checking out some of these books.

One that I didn't see mentioned that I really enjoyed was the Patrick Roy book written by his father.

I just finished the Pat Burns biography. Not worth it. I'll start it's own thread tomorrow with the reasons why.

Also, I just saw this today (which made me want to come and post it here), but there's a guy who reviews hockey books. http://www.hockeybookreviews.com/

Writer of the weekly Top 10 column.

12-team Keeper pool, straight points for forwards & dmen. Goalies get: 2 points per win, 3 per shutout, 1 point per assist & 1 point per shootout loss.

    League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.

Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko
Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek
Goalies: Kochetkov, Talbot, Vasilevskiy, Campbell, Schmid

Just wanted to come back to this thread to add a couple of more titles:

Derek Sanderson's book is awesome. One of the best I've read. Apparently, he was once the highest paid athlete in the world. Not just in hockey, but all of sports. No wonder the WHA went under. But it was a great book (and as a Habs fan, I hate the Bruins).

Also, Jeremy Roenick's book was pretty good.
