    Default Kichton or Donovan

Pts only keeper. Who has best chance to be an impact player at the NHL level?

IMO not much difference between the two, but Donovan is definitely closer to prime time and has a better opportunity to shine.

Big difference between the two for me is Donovan has already shown he can handle the rigors of the pro game, has a nice skillset and a good looking future in Brooklyn. Kichton is further down the depth chart right now, as he'll likely need at least 2 seasons, maybe more in the AHL before hes close to NHL ready. Donovan could play in the NHL now. Defenseman typically take longer to develop, so seems Donovan is the wiser choice right now.

Pretty much my train of thought. As hitman said, Donovan has already shown he can play at that level and that's huge.

The more I think about it the more I see it as a huge gap between the two. Kichton is playing well in the WHL but I was not giving Donovan nearly enough credit.

I, too, would go Donovan. Kichton is extremely cerebral, though. Detroit coveted him at one point in time. If Kichton continues to progress, he would be the option for pts only. However l, size is a concern. And considering Donovan's size and skill, i would roll the dice on him before Kichton. NYI is also starting to have deeper and better talent to compete at that position also. I don't know where Kichton fits in. Donovan, on the other hand, is very close to obtaining a spot.

Yeah, I'd easily take Donovan over Kichton. Donovan has shown good success at AHL-level, is closer to NHL and has as good upside. Not really even close.

Thanks everyone. Your advice was overwhelmingly in favor of Donovan so I snatched him up with the 54th pick (of 84). I've got three more to go in the next 30 of a 28 team 3 rd draft.

Thus far I'm happy with all of my picks except Jankowski...Stransky is a bit of a reach but with a fairly astute crowd drafting this year I wanted to make sure I didn't miss out on him the way I had on a few others so far.

    Jankowski (F) 1st (23)
    Koekkoek (D) 2nd (31)
    Killorn (F) 2nd (38)
    Stransky (F) 2nd (50)
    Donovan (D) 2nd (54)

    Cheers

Donovan and Killorn could likely play in the NHL if the season resumed tomorrow. I really like Killorn and think he could become an above average 2nd line player one day...he'll do his time on the 3rd line though. Both are by far the most NHL ready of the players you listed. Joe Colborne is probably the best example to use as a time frame reference on how long it'll take Jankowski to make the NHL. Colborne still isn't ready, by the way...

Koekkoek is probably a good 4-5 years away from making the Lightning. Hard to get a good read on Stransky because he plays for arguably the worst team in the WHL.
