Are they doing anything different in the Czech Republic than has been done in NHL rinks in the last year? Don't think so. How can you say Europe is backward? Aren't you kinda getting involved in doing similar stuff?

Completely agree. Everyone (deservedly) gives Europe a bad rap for being racist. I don't actually believe that we live in a society that is any less racist; we are just quieter about it. At least in Europe I can identify a bigot much more quickly...

I guess your definition of racism is different then mine. Calling someone backwards is a little different then calling a person of color a monkey, so no I don't agree.

Actually, if you had only called the dumb-asses who did this backwards I'd agree with you, but it's everyone from the entire continent that you called backwards so I'm inclined to agree with Shoeless on this one. But this isn't about what YOU said, it's about what they said so here goes.

Of course those who called him a monkey are no better than the dumb-ass who threw a banana at Simmonds during a game last year... just goes to show that there are dumb-asses everywhere.

I'm sure that a lot of those people got swept up by the mob mentality and are feeling awful about it today, but still this is unacceptable.
    On a fantasy hockey break.

LOL, hadn't looked at this thread since Oct.. Love the responses and the cracks on me for calling Europeans backwards. My apologies, as when I referenced backwards I was referring to some countries that drive on the left side.

Just saw the follow up on the racist chants from the Czech league. It looks like common sense prevailed and they are taking it seriously. Good on them, and good on Simmonds for taking the high road.
