    Default Stafford/McGahee for AP

I'm sitting at 2-5. I may be out of contention, but I believe I can go on a run and at least have a respectable finish. I actually like my team, but Vick's injury history makes a big question mark.

Another GM (5-2), who is a big Vikings fan, has made several offers for AP. The one in the title is the latest. I'm asking for opinions because I'm wondering if I believe in Vick too much, or if I am biased about the value of starting RBs. I was thinking of a counter involving Brandon Marshall and MJD (I have R. Jennings), but honestly at this point I don't really see a favorable trade as being possible. Perhaps part of me wants to find something because I know its a lot more fun when you have the best player on your favorite team on your roster.

I love the Niners, but I only got the D. (Great I know, but likely not at the top in terms of fantasy points this year).

If you're willing to take the time to look at the rosters and give me your thoughts, I'm happy to add to your reputation if I can. I prefer repping people who actually share their reasoning rather than just saying names.

Keep in mind this in 1 year only, not keeper. Our format is:
    QB, 2WR, 2RB, 1TE, 2Flex (WR/TE/RB), K, DEF, 2DL, 2DB, 2LB

My team (this week's starters in bold):
    QB: Vick, Fitzpatrick
WR: Thomas, D. Jackson, Floyd, Gibson
    RB: Peterson, C. Johnson, D. Murray, R. Jennings, A. Green, D. Wilson
    TE: Pettigrew, Finley
    K: Gould
    DEF: SF
    DL: Babin, Peppers
    DB: Landry, D. Hall
LB: Briggs, Weatherspoon Ellerbe (replacement for S. Lee)

    His team:
    QB: Stafford, Luck
WR: Marshall, Lloyd, Gordon, G. Jennings, Heyward-Bey, Hixon
RB: MJD, McGahee, LeShoure, Hillis, Ballard
    TE: Bennett, Rudolph
    K: Zuerlein
    DEF: Minnesota
    DL: Smith, Morgan
    DB: Petersen, Winnfield
    LB: Bowman, Greenway

At this point QB is the big question mark for me. However, I don't really see Stafford or Luck as a huge upgrade over Vick fantasy point-wise. Perhaps a multiplayer deal involving Bowman and Marshall...but Peterson is the focal point of his offence. The only downside to him is that he has to face some tough defences this year.

    Any thoughts?

    Stafford is a fat mess.

McGahee has an amazing schedule in the weeks coming. I would almost consider trading AP for him straight up, but the perceived value for AD is higher. I feel like Gordon may be on the upswing with Weeden.

I really don;t think you need to rely on Stafford and his garbage time TDs. Vick and Fitzpatrick are strong enough combo. I would be asking for McGahee+. I don't do IDP so it's hard for me to speak to their values... sorry.

I would want a lot for AP. Even if Mcgahee's schedule is good, usually difference in talent wins out. AP has had a couple straight 100 yard games and only one games less than 79 yards. Heck he was 1st overall last year (I drafted him) while Mcgahees only considered a top 15-20 back.

I'd demand (1) Marshall (top WR), (2) MJD (can say that's he's injured but you have both him and his handcuff) or Mcgahee, (3) Zeurlein (if you get more points for 40-50 yarders).

you need to demand a ransom for AP because your RBs other than C2K (who was terrible few weeks ago) are not that good.

Maybe try to switch Stafford for Fitzpatrick. Surely him or Vick will turn it around somewhat this season.

Another option is to sell him Jennings.

P.s. how is that guys team 5-2. I don't use defensive players but are they that good?

That certainly seems high....but on the other hand, Denver's other RB looked pretty decent last night.

You may be right about asking a "ransom"....another GM offered me Matthews, Newton, and Gates for AP and Dalton

A stud LB should net between 9-12 fantasy points every game. Defensive players can make a huge difference. In this case though, his record is the result of a lucky schedule. ANother team in our league has far more points and is 2-5.

I would wait to see how Vick fares this week before i make any decisions. I know there was some talk about possibly sitting Vick (which is not gonna happen) but all the talk and how he bounces back from it will mean a lot for the rest of the season.

I believe he will have a good week against NO, should be a high scoring game.

I like having to start Vick and AP better than Stafford and McGahee.
Coming from someone who is weak at RB and having tried trading for RBs in the past, dont sell short on AP... he is a top 4 pick. They'll have to pay to get him.

In a 1 year league, Id probable want to stay away from Stafford.. He wont be that much better than Vick. If it was a keeper, then maybe a different story.

AP 12 rushes for 144 yards and 2 tds at halftime.
McGaheem 23 rushes for 66 yards in whole game.
    Stafford 285 yards no tds.

That is why you ask for ransom for stud RB.

You want a player who may produce as many yards and tds, like Marshall.

I know. It looked like he could have easily done more if Ponder hadn't been so ineffective.

Funny you mentioned Marshall...Last week I actually countered with Stafford, McGahee, Marshall for Peterson, DeSean Jackson, Dalton. He didn't respond, so I cancelled the offer at kick off time Monday AM.

I likely have to get a QB for the rest of the year (Vick could only manage 1 TD against the Saints!) but I don't see it happening....it's tough to trade AP and get a comparable return. There's only 3 managers with QB depth in our league, so my options are limited.

Really hope you didn't trade AP for Mcgahee+Stafford

Last 2 games (my league settings)
    AP 57 fantasy points
    mcGahee 14 ( now hurt)
    Stafford 21
