Rask should dominate Price in this match-up based on the criteria alone.

Unfortunately most voters can't be bothered to read such criteria...

In a 1 yr pool, I just dont see Price getting as many points as Rask has the opportunity to get. Rask for me.

blayze nails it. Based on the criteria for ONE SEASON it's not even close. The Habs were the 15th place team in the East last year and made minimal improvements in the offseason.

Price for me, easily, and yes I read the criteria.

In a one-year league there's no way in hell I'm relying on a guy with a career high of 45 starts to be my #1 goalie.

In my ranking I had Price one spot higher than Rask. I consider both to be pretty close as Rask probably has the higher upside because of the team he plays on...however as dyz mentioned Rask is still relatively unproven compared to Price.

Another factor which bumps Price up a bit here is the lingering groin injury that Rask apparently suffered while playing overseas a few days ago.

Last year, on a 15th place team, Price had a .916 save percentage, 2.43 GAA and five shutouts. The Bruins as a team had a .921 save percentage, 2.33 GAA and eight shutouts (Rask started only 22 of those games). If the Habs are even a little better, than his numbers should rival the Bruins, except maybe in the wins department.

Throw in everything already mentioned (Rask never having a big workload and his groin injury), and I'm going with Price.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

I'll take Rask. If Montreal weren't awful, the story would be different.

Why do you assume that Price voters don't read the criteria?

Personally, I think Rask is suffering in this tournament from some of the worst timed news ever. I mean, he re-injures his groin and receives a real strong rant about how worrisome that is on the same day I open this poll? The kiss of death, courtesy Mr. Darryl Dobbs.

Given 2 of the 3 categories are ratio-based, and how horrible the habs are going to be, I'm really at a loss to understand how anyone can justify taking Price in a one-year.

-Thomas is out, and there's no capable back-up
-Even if Price gets more wins (won't happen given how shitty the habs are), he is STILL going to lose to Rask on the Save % and GAA
-Did I mention how shitty the habs are going to be?

I could see a weak argument being made if saves were a category, but given the 3 categories named, it's about quality over quantity. I'm dumbfounded that some of you view this as even remotely close.

edit: I will say that I didn't even know Rask is injured, so if that's a serious factor here than I have to revisit this, but that aside, it's a no brainer.

This. It's not about reading the criteria or not.

Do you really think most people (ie: the hundreds of people who vote in these polls, not the small handful of us participate oa daily basis) fully read the OP and give deep thought to the criteria?

Or do you think they see 2 buttons, and just pick one based on the name they are more familiar with so they can see the poll results?

Yeah, based on human behaviour I think it's safe to say it's the latter...
