Can anyone explain a bit on how the bidding waivers works, and whether the wire is already open?

If i understand it correctly it is fairly simple, if a player is available on the WW anyone can submit a bid 0-$100, highest bid wins the player. All available players are on the WW at this point until the 17th.

I had the 5th pick going into the draft. I ended up with the one player I didn't really want to take, Sid the Kid. He could win or lose the pool for me, I guess. A 100+ point pace and I like my odds, 100+ point pace for 13 games, well, thanks for coming out. Still, I couldn't leave him on the table at number 5 - I was tempted to go goaltender, but with only 3 cats for the goalies and weekly starts, I decided to go forward. 10 goalies had gone by the time it came around to me again (including 5 in a row), so I had no choice but to go Lehtonen.

Favorite Pick: Happy to get Derek Roy in the 13th round, and Jeff Petry in round 19. Also that Corey Crawford was still around in the 8th round - he's not my favorite, but I think he is better than he played last year, and it will be nice to have 2 (likely) first string goalies along with the Bob for depth.

Pick I Regret: My last 5 picks, as I was disconnected. A couple of them might turn out, but I hope missing the last half hour doesn't hamstring me too much.

A Player I Wanted: Jamie Benn, Max Pac, Steve Ott. Wanted one more multi-cat LW, a little shy on that side. Burrows can slide over if I find more right side help, but would love to find one more wing contributor. Backstrom (WAS) at 49 was very nice.

Draft Day Risers: I thought Lindback and Schneider went rather high, but the goalie panic was in full effect. Chara at 13, well, I know he's a beast in this kind of league, but I would have waited until the second round, especially if I was picking 5 later.

Draft Day Fallers: Datsyuk, like everyone I guess. Surprised me that Okposo was still there at 205.

Best/Worst Team Drafted: Hard to say, of course. I like my first 20 rounds, I think I got a lot of players who will contribute across the board without cutting to much scoring. I think Art Vandelay looks solid, and I kind of like the Barons squad. In my mind, Return of Daigle took really great D, but maybe too early. And I'm not too sure why some teams took 4 goalies, or a third one so early, but you never know I guess.

The more I look at these teams I think Iceholes is the team to beat! Red Robster should do really well in all of the offense categories; I predict he will finish with more points than hits!
Bardown Bandites is another strong offensive team. Renegade Warriors drafted as per their name and should run away with hits/Pims while contributing above average on all of the offensive stats.

This was my first ever draft like this. I wasnt to sure on guys that had more than one position by there name but sounds like that was a good thing. I def should have drafted another starting goalie but i guess ill learn as i go. I look forward to the season if in fact it does start nov 2nd. ALSO SEND SOME TRADES IM OPEN AND ENJOY TRADING. I picked 8th so I was right in the middle of each round. My plan was to go heavy on D, make sure I had three starting goalies and get as many multi-cat forwards as possible. I have played mostly H2H multi-cat leagues so the stat categories were familiar to me.

Favorite Pick: Huberdeau in the 17th round, 248th overall. I was thin at C and needed a potential home run... so far so good!! Giroux at 8th was a nice gift as well!!

Pick I Regret: Coburn in round 16. I really wanted Brendan Smith and he went one slot before me, I paniced and thats what you get.

Player I Wanted: The afformentioned Brendan Smith. I think he will be a stud in a league with these stat categories.

Draft Day Riser: Nash at 14th overall. I just don't think his value rose that much moving to NYC.

Draft Day Faller: Horton to the 12th Round. Granted he has the concussion concern, but he could be a monster in this league format and the likes of Dorsett, Neil and Clutterbuck were taken at the RW position before him. Great snag youngblood!

Best/Worst Team: I think that youngblood has the team to beat. I won't guess the worst team because I will likely occupy that spot if I get too arrogant.

Hah, Tootoo is a bum! But Jarkko was brilliant, some of my favorite hockey memories are tied to that man. Still, always wanted to see them almost fight, but then decide not to, so that my team name could be the play-by-play call.

This league is going to go down to the wire, as I was worried it might. The Eh Team took the lead from me a week or more ago, not long after Crosby went down.
