I actually really like your pick-ups.
Might have been a bit much to spend... but for now, you've got to take a shot to jump back in it, being such a short season.

Moves in the Smythe last night:
    $21 Fasth, Viktor (ANA)
    $12 Despres, Simon (PIT)
    $9 Palmieri, Kyle (ANA)
    $8 Nielsen, Frans (NYI)
    $6 Bickell, Bryan (CHI)
    $4 Mitchell, John (COL)
    $2 Pyatt, Taylor (NYR)
    $2 Kopecky, Tomas (FLA)
    $2 Boll, Jared (CBJ)
    $2 Weber, Mike (BUF)
    $2 Beleskey, Matt (ANA)
    $1 Emelin, Alexei (MON)
    $1 Hendricks, Matt (WAS)
    $0 Pyatt, Tom (TB)

Standings after 3 weeks (with top 6 rounds of draft picks, GOALIES BOLD):
    1) 115.5 From Russia with 'ov (Malkin, Bryz, Parise, Varlamov, Gaborik, Green)
    2) 111.0 Nickel City (Lundqvist, Letang, Lehtonen, Hall, Getzlaf, Campbell)
    3) 104.0 Rougie (Quick, Chara, E.Staal, Anderson, Callahan, Kane)

    4) 98.5 AxeHoles (Rask, Byfuglien, Nash, Hiller, Boyle, Kane)
    5) 90.5 Blades of Steel (Tavares, Seguin, Price, Kessel, MaxPac, Edler, Brodeur)

    6) 83.0 Scurvy (Neal, Backes, Phaneuf, Subban, Dubnyk, Elliott)
    7) 80.5 Savages (Ovechkin, Fleury, Weber, Benn, Crawford, Iginla)
    8) 80.5 Prognosis Negative (Sharp, Landeskog, Pietrangelo, Niemi, Hossa, Simmonds)

    9) 74.5 PopCultureReference (Crosby, Miller, Luongo, Toews, Ryan, Giordano)
    9) 74.5 Goatlenders (Giroux, Kovalchuk, Halak, N.Backstrom, Spezza, Marleau)
    9) 74.5 Hawkdog7mm (Rinne, D.Sedin, H.Sedin, Lindback, MSL, B.Marchand)
    12) 69.5 Fantômas (Stamkos, Schneider, Lucic, Pavelec, Eberle, B.Richards)
    13) 63.5 Bearflaggers (M.Smith, Karlsson, D.Brown, Kipper, Datsyuk, Shattenkirk)

    14) 42.0 That Bird Team (Nc.Backstrom, Ward, Doughty, Pavelski, Zetterberg, Ott)
    15) 38.0 SuluShattenkirksFace (Perry, Hartnell, Howard, Kopitar, Holtby, Couture, Vanek!)

    Team by Team Notes:
    1) Team Russia off to good start with lots of starts from the 'ov goalies.
    2) Nickel City charging hard up the standings with probably best goalie-tandem.
    3) Rougie has potentially most value-return player of fantasy hockey this year: C.Anderson.

    4) Axeholes - are they in trouble with Buff injury & Hiller losing starts?
    5) Blades of Steal leading goalie cats with the "goalie steal of the draft" (and I called it during draft): Martin Brodeur.

    6) Scury with an excellent gritty team though Neal off to slow start.
    7) Savages with the greatest underperforming skaters (OV/Weber/Iggy) and overperforming goalies (Crawford).
    8) ProgNeg getting hurt badly by only have one #1 goalie (Niemi + Greiss).

    9) PCR hurt by surprisingly slow start from Miller & Sabres.
    9) Goatlenders with worst luck of draft. Halak & Spezza down to injuries & Giroux lost linemate Hartnell.
    9) Hawdog waiting for Sedin twins to catch fire.
    12) Fantomas actually doing quite well in skater cats, but Schneider & Pavelec hurting team.
    13) Bearflaggers hurt by Mike Smith brief injury, I think this team will rise to mid-pack in a few weeks.

    14) That Bird Team just not getting the production from NickleBack-WAS.
    15) SuluSF. You would think it would be very difficult for the team with Thomas Vanek to be in last place... yikes.

You forgot losing Whitney, Gonchar, and Latendresse...(actually that's probably a gain). In a shortened season I don't think I'll make up the loss...

If only you hadn't dropped your 22nd round pick: Viktor Fasth!
You still have a chance... the league is actually surprisingly tight (despite what the standings might say).
Every category is still fairly tightly bunched.

Specifically, you're last in PIM (1pt) and 2nd last in Hits (2pts).
No excuse there. Go grab a couple grinders.
You should be bidding on guys like Jared Boll (44 PIM, 24 Hits) who was snagged last night for $2.

I got Scrivens for $5 and surprised to get him - only one other bid. Strangely the team with Reimer as their #2 didn't put in a bid. Oops.

For comparison, here are last night's claims in the Adams Division:
    Tlusty for $25
    Bozak for $15
    Greene for $10
    Scrivens for $5 (mine)
    Fraser for $5 (I bid $3)
    Raymond for $4
    Boll for $3 (mine)
    Carcillo for $3
Kindl for $1 (mine - took a flier in case I didn't get Fraser. He gets some PP time, hits a bit and four games next week. Replaces Morris for the week)

I got outbid a few times last night too.

I put in a $6 bid for Dillon... who went for $7.
Not a bad loss as Dallas is leading the NHL in games played (with 14) and actually plays one of the lighter NHL schedules over the next 3 weeks with just 9 games. This week plays VAN/CGY/VAN so it could be tough sledding for DAL production against VAN.

I grabbed Boucher (as insurance to Bryz)... insurance is always good if you aren't using a slot.

I also grabbed Zack Smith. Ottawa has a 4-game week and I'm expecting a grittier Ottawa team without their superstars. Plus, there are some fighters in their upcoming schedule against TOR/NJ/NYI/NYR. (Though NYR went from icing Rupp, Boyle, Bickel to icing none of those guys: Trade,Scratch,Scratch).

Boll is going to have a nice week. I tried to grab him two weeks ago specifically for this week. CBJ has 4 games against LA/PHX/ANA/DET. I've got Dorsett active for those games. I'm going FULL-GOON mode this week with Z.Smith, Dorsett, Matt Martin, and Kyle Clifford!

I'm getting a little worried... my lead is now down to 5.5pts... Rougie has established himself as a serious contender with a great goalie tandem: Quick/Anderson (+ Fasth). Hopefully Anderson dooms him.

Three of this weeks transactions were from me. Figure I need to upgrade my toughness and get rid of some dead weight (Markstrom and Johansen) to give me some weekly flexibility. Dillon will give me some hits on the back end and hopeful of some PIMs from Thornton as I'm sure he will mix it up tomorrow night against Buffalo. Emery was just a replacement over Markstrom.

On a different note, just noticed this page was still active as of yesterday. Excellent job Pengwin on giving a weekly synopsis of the league!
