My team was the Blades of Steel. Had a buddy do the draft for me since I was working nights but I will do a rundown tomorrow when I have the time. Wish I could have attended since it looked like a good one!

    Post draft analysis:

Interesting draft. Wasn't expecting a choice between Giroux and Ovechkin at 5th overall... But took Giroux as Ovies bounce back isn't a sure thing. Also with the D-man run, I couldn't believe how many top guys slid down the draft, and I couldn't help myself. As a result my D corps aren't going to win any scoring awards, but I'm hoping they are "truculent" enough to fill some other cats.

    Favorite Pick:

Giroux was a surprise, but I like my consecutive Spezza, Marleau, and Thornton picks in rounds 5 through 7. Grandlund also, but I might have reached...

    A Pick I Regret:

I've already dropped Smith-Pelly, but it's hard to regret my last pick. So I'll say I might regret taking Giroux over Ovie.

    A Player I Wanted:

Sharp and Backes. Both have been staples on all my teams for many moons, can't believe they went so early (9th and 18th)!

    Draft Day Risers:

See above, along with about 20 defenseman.

    The Fallers:

No. 1 scoring center men were plentiful in rounds 5 through 8.

    The Best and Worst Teams:

IMO, a lot of GM's put too much emphasis on multi-cat/grinders and D, with big time offense producers on the board. With 5 of the 7 forward cats directly related to offense (G, A, +\-, PPP, and SOG), time will tell how this pans out, especially in a shortened season. In short, how could I say any team is better then mine?

Going into the draft picking 15th the plan was to get a solid forward and a goalie with the 15th and 16th picks. Original plan was a Tavares (who dropped in our laps) or a Parise along with a Schneider or a Rask. My buddy who drafted for me is a Bruins homer and as a result chose Seguin with the 2nd round pick. Didnt feel good about that pick but his 2nd year numbers are eerily similar to Tavares across the board and here's hoping he takes the same step as JT in year 3.

    Likes
Kessel - hate the leafs but feel Kessel was good value at where we got him
Brodeur - stellar value at this point especially for a 1 year league
Carter - looking for a bounce back after being reunited with his girlfriend Richards
Myers - Injury woes slowed his production last year. Hopefully slides in next to Erhoff on the PP
Mueller - Could be a homerun if he is over his concussion issues.
Leino - same as above but insert suckitis for concussion
Youth - Several young emerging players on my team. Youth was served well during the last lockout and hopefully my young players can breakout and cash in for me

    Dislikes
Trigger happy - Some guys were picked higher than I would have picked them or not at all. Normally I have a certain flavor to me team or pick my yearly go to guys but did not have the luxury this year. However, I'm still happy with who my buddy chose in my absence and still have some trade pieces I can use at my disposal. Just wish that my first crack at a Dobber pool would allow me to draft myself. Make these drafts on a Sunday lol!!

Toughness (PIM, Hits) - Not sure my team has any besides Neil.

No Penguins - Gotta have a token Penguin on my team each year ... sadly I have none.

Look forward to competing with you all this year ... Lets hope Bettman and Fehr can work things out!

My strategy was to get 2 two good tenders and to lock solid forwards in each position before taking dman.
I got screwed a few times by not have my queue set properly and my internet connection faltered causing a few guys i wanted taken - just a bit early.

    Favorite Pick:

Grabbing the Swedish Twins. Had to do it. Couldn't believe Henrik was still there in the third round to pick but.....see below
I thinking getting Carle in the 11th round was good value, if he can with the mesh with the top PP unit on Tampa this year.

    A Pick I Regret:

    Several big regrets stand out.
I may regret taking Henrik over Dustin Brown who I was targeting originally.
I reached with Lindback, I wanted a solid second goalie and there is a 50/50 chance he's the guy, looking back i should taken Pavelec. 8 goalies taken in the 4th round.
I likely reached at 114 taking Yakupov and leaving Suter and Keith on the board.

    A Player I Wanted:

I was so close to grabbing Kesler in the 10th, and Rougie snagged him right before my eyes!!! bugger.
I wanted a few more players with multi position availability, I picked 4.

    Draft Day Risers:

I thought Sharp went a little early. I thought Landeskog went a bit early as well, considering Dustin Brown went in the third and they have similar numbers.

    The Fallers:

As Goatlenders noted, lots of big name centers fell, Marleau, B. Richards, Thornton and RNH all taken towards the end of the 6th and start of the 7th rounds.
I am hoping Gionta has a big bounce back season making him a steal at 367.

    The Best and Worst Teams:

I don't think any one team stands out as the best or worst.
I do think my team is pretty well rounded, not sure i will be tops in any one category but i should be competitive in all of them.

    Steals:
Timonen, Robidas, B.Schenn, and Meszaros are guys I'm very happy I got. PHI needs to fill PP slots, Timonen should be a lock for PP-time and possibly even Meszaros. Brayden Schenn is a big hitter who could really emerge into a bigger role, especially with his brother in town. With Souray's departure, it's possible that Robidas steps back into the DAL PP picture, which could be fantastic.

Pengwin, I am surprised you consider Meszaros a steal, I would think he fell some due to his surgery, he could potentially be out 8 months?
    The rest are great steals!!

I haven't read through all the posts for all the divisions yet so I'm not sure if this has been covered but should the unthinkable happen and we are denied hockey for the entire 2012/13 season (knock on wood,) do these teams transfer over to 2013/14 or do we have to re-draft?

could be back in 4 months, so if the league starts in January he could be back!

Sounds similar to the achilles injury Salo had a few years back.
