Like you Loch, I often feel I don't have the insight and knowledge to hang with this crowd in any discussion, unless we're talking beer or music. When I gave Gates my article to proof read I let out a sigh of relief when he replied and didn't say what's this load of crap. That was replaced by abject terror when I saw the download on the main page this morning.

Those doubts did make it hard to write my piece, I was constantly questioning what I was writing and it makes it even harder. But now that it's done and in the hands of the Dobber community I'm feeling excited about doing more, if people want to read more. Having this behind me, if the responses are positive, I can actually relax and let the knowledge flow more easily. Not being hamstrung by doubt, the thoughts come more freely and it's oddly liberating.

You ought to give it a try next time Loch, if I can do it anybody can.

I tend to write from a more literary stance, which is why the Bruins and Sharks ones are different. I love thinking about themes and letting them roll. Hope people like that style as I didn't go for the direct roto-guide approach where you list a name and talk about them. Those are great and very informational for me and I loved reading all of them, I'm just a different type. So I hope people liked them. If not, just don't tell me. I'm a very fragile writer. ha ha.

Going back to Dobber's article about what it takes to run a fantasy site full-time, and I remember him mentioning that passion and dedication is more important than writing skills and being a hockey guru. So for those who felt intimidated, if you just have fun with it you should be alright. People can disagree but they will not call you stupid.

Plus, it's a great opportunity to test the waters if you want to eventually work your way into writing more frequently.

I too initially leaned towards saying no. In the end, I couldn't give a reasonable excuse with my no, so I went with it. Great opportunity for sure!

Great job with the rankings and compiling everything, Gates. Great job to all the other writers as well. It sure is a great read!

Hahahaha that was quite the Vancouver writeup!

Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to write for you and be published on the best Fantasy site (certainly fantasy hockey) on the web.

Even though the lockout isn't (wish I could say "wasn't") positive, it was good putting that spin on things.

Absolutely an honor to assist, thanks Gates! I had a blast writing the Sabres piece. My only concern was choosing which players to write-up.

Good times, and glad to help!

I thank you for contributing, austeane and Bomm!

That said, my door is always open for any Black Aces, forum member or reader who wishes to give writing (fantasy) hockey a shot. There is no reason to wait for the next 'big" roto PDF. If you want to write something, find me (pm, post, twitter, email etc..) and we'll make it happen.

With fair notice, I now have an extended list of forum members that I am looking forward to collaborating with. This was an excellent project and I am proud to show it off.

I was very pleased to contribute, even with my computer kicking the can. I will have an ipad from tomorrow on (with a keyboard) so i will be back to posting. Right now, i am trying to type on an iphone and it is painful. I only had an hour to write my piece, and it still turned out half decent as far as I can tell. For those contemplating becoming a contributor, do it and have no worries. Gates, Dobber and everyone else are very supportive. I am by no means a fantasy genius, and my knowledge is better suited for on-ice hockey analysis. Don't let pengwin7's ability to analyze, or anyone else, intimidate you because there are too many amazing writers far beyond my ability and knowledge. Can't wait for the next round.

Ps Thank you Gates, amazing job.

Must have been some powerful stuff Gates was smoking when he ranked Marcus Foligno as the 50th best roto player. That is some crazy ranking...

    Well said, thanks!

Can't wait to see if you have two hours to spend on an article... haha

Glad some computer problems are getting resolved on your end. I have a keyboard for my ipad and it's pretty useful (makes it a mini notebook).

Yeah I think crazy is the correct word to describe it I mean I like Foligno and his upside too but I think the upside is about what Wayne Simmonds did last year (but with less goals and more assists) and Simmonds barely cracked the top-100. So for Foligno to be ranked over proven studs like Kovalchuk (yeah he doesn't get you PIM, hits and has poor +/- but he's a stud in the hardest categories to fill) and even proven multi-cat guys like Pacioretty means you have some sky high expectations for the kid. But I just don't see it in him.

Or you're just trying to build up some hype to get his trade value to go up and then get king's ransom in return for him in UHL
