At that point they were only 3 points out. It was going to be tough but the chance was there. If they lose tonight it seems highly likely that the Stars become sellers heading into the trade deadline.

I don't see who they would necessarily "sell"... they've got a solid group of young players (seguin, benn, klingberg) and a good goalie. If they just shored up their defense and maybe added some veteran leadership, this should be a playoff team.

Cole and Horcoff are on expiring contracts, not much to get there except a mid or late round pick. Then again the Stars have done well with those picks before. The Wings are good at it too, and Nill brings that experience with him. Not saying they will find another Benn, Klingberg, Datsyuk, or Zetterberg, but it's worth a shot.

There's also been talk off and on about moving Daley or Goli. Maybe they deal a young D like Oleksiak or Jokipakka, though if it were those two I would hope they could find a good deal for Oleksiak and keep Jokipakka.

From what both Mark Stepneski and Mike Heika are saying it looks like Hemsky will be a game time decision. The Stars aren't saying if it's related to the injury that kept him out for the prior three games or something new that cropped up last night. Ranford was recalled less than 24 hours after being sent back to Cedar Park and would draw in if Hemsky sits.

Enroth doing his best Lehtonen impression... 5 goals and counting in the third period.

It's definitely time to start making plans for how they're going to spend their offseason time. With this loss and the Avs win Dallas is going to be in 12th, 6pts out of a wildcard. So now it's 4 teams they have to leap frog over.

There are so many questions that have to be asked and answered. Where do you even start? It's not just defense, or goaltending, it's multiple areas. Wow.

Should I even bother starting Lehtonen next week with 3 evenly spaced out games against the @Jets, Avs and Ducks? Or has this team folded for the year?

I've watched Dallas' last two games - not exaggerating when I say that the non-call (goalie interference) on Detroit game-tying goal could be what does the Stars in this season.

Coaches challenge or expanded video review can't come soon enough.

With Dubnyk at your disposal I wouldn't. I wouldn't say they've folded, but good lord they are a mess. I mean where do you start with all the things that are wrong? Heck the only thing that's been consistent as a positive is the offense. Outside of that you never know what to expect game to game, shift to shift.

Tonight though, after that third goal they just turtled up and said let's just get this over with and get the hell outta here. Oh to be a fly on the wall in that locker room....

I realize my last post may read a tad contradictory. I don't think the Stars have folded for the season, we'll see, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Now as far as tonight, yes they did fold like a cheap tent. Not the first time that's happened in the 2nd game of back to backs this season or over the last 3 or 4 seasons. Ongoing theme there.

I don't know, but seeing how Enroth played yesterday, I'm guessing he'll start. I hope so as he's my only healthy goalie!

Ruff's usually tight lipped about that until close to game time. I would guess he is, but if it's that team in your sig, I'd roll with Dubnyk instead no matter Lehtonen's starter status.

I'm already rollin Dubie for sure.

Just deciding between 3 starts from Lehtonen or 3 starts for Iggy. I'm liking the Stars first 2 games this week... I think I'll go with my hunch and stick with him.

Thanks for the quick responses gents.
