I'm torn on this. On the one hand as a fan I love seeing this kid work his magic. On the other hand as a fantasy GM it's demonstrations like this that are making it a pain in the ass to pry him away from his current owners.

Sean Shapiro, who covers the Texas Stars for the Austin Statesman, has an article up on his website about a new equipment mandate for the AHL Stars. Starting with tonight's game against the Checkers every player is required to wear 'shot blockers'.

    http://wrongsideoftheredline.com/201...o-block-shots/

I wouldn't be surprised to see this next season in Dallas, or in 2016-17, if it proves successful in Cedar Park. I'm sure there will be some resistance at first but really why would you not want these. I may never have played the game, but I don't need to, to know taking that little vulcanized chunk of rubber off your shin bone hurts like a mother******. I played 2nd in baseball, I know how much it hurts getting drilled in the shins on a misplayed hot grounder, and I imagine a puck isn't much better. Probably worse, since by the time a grounder gets to you it's lost some velocity.

Same deal with the kevlar socks and sleeves. Good on the Stars for stepping up and protecting their investment even if the investment doesn't want to be protected.

We've scored three goals tonight. Been there down that.

They've all been on the power play......

Sorry NWO, but I don't think Klingberg's game tonight has done much for you in terms of being able to pry him from another GM...

Well in all honesty that train left the station before I ever joined this league, been in the league roughly a week, so I just sit back and enjoy the show as a fan.

As the dagger in my heart, the only two Stars on my roster are Lindback and Rynnas. They wouldn't have been my picks but you play the hand your dealt.

What I'm wondering is will Klinger be a Calder finalist? He has to be in the conversation by now...1G, 2A so far tonight, what a great FA pickup in 3 of my leagues

/edit: As I click the post button, he scores another goal!!!!

Statistical tidbit of the day, well night, anyway....

Klingberg's 4pt night was a first in Stars history for a rookie defenseman.

Klingberg gets the NHL Rookie of the Month award. Yeah, 13 in 13 can sort of do that for you. Man I tell ya when this kid figures this hockey thing out, look out.

Jordie Benn lost a bet with Tyler Seguin on the Super Bowl. Thanks to the Seahawks bungled play calling we'll have a harder time spotting Jordie's mug when he's on the ice as he's now clean shaven. Of course we still have the old reliable way, if there's a jock strap laying on the ice after a goal against you can bet it's Jordie's and he's been deked out of it once again. That or a white cane and pair of dark glasses....

Jokipakka and Cole back in tonight and Schlemko and Moen out, according to Heika.

Still just four points out of 8th place at the moment and only six points out of 7th. Technically tied with Colorado for 10th and only one point back of LA for 9th. They really, really need the two points tonight.

Who knew all it would take to get Eaves going was to break his foot? Hell we could have done that months ago. I don't expect it to last but while it does we'll revel in the goodness.

Of course we've been here before with the Avs. Everybody in victory green has got to know it's coming and be ready for the pushback. Almost the exact same setup as the last time they faced off. The Stars smacked the Avs in the face early on and looked in control and then fell all apart. This is a better Stars team right now so I think they can pull it off.

The Avs just love to play rope-a-dope with us. Every time this year they kind of float through the first period then ramp it up in the second.

The Avs rope-a-dope has roped the wrong dope, not that I'm complaining. Merely making an observation. Plus there's still that pesky little detail about having to play a full 60 minutes. Good answer to the Avs early push in the second there. Now it's lather(1st), rinse(2nd), repeat(3rd).

Stars are going to have to manufacture one here I think.
