A behind the scenes article from the Stars site about the making of the new look....

    http://stars.nhl.com/club/news.htm?i...id=DL|DAL|home

I like 'em. Clean, simple, yet not plain like the last ones. And thank god they didn't try to revive the Mooterus.

Stars hope to hire a coach before the Draft. J.Nill will meet with D.Eakins this week and as @MikeHeika suggests, likely Vigneault as well.

Not a fan of the new jerseys. They're not ugly, but not was I was hoping to see.

Maybe when I see it on with full gear I'll change my mind, but for now they're just OK.

Im with keeping some gold for pop against the green/white. Should have made the D gold maybe and they could run the 3 color stripes for a more ol'school N'stars feel. Hope the 3rds are blk Chicago style with the circle logo.

Dont love the centre logo, but also dont mind it either. Really like the shoulder patches and I really dig the new colour scheme. Thumbs up.

Dallas Stars agree to two-year, $10 million deal with Sergei Gonchar

On Friday, the Dallas Stars announced that they had acquired the rights to Sergei Gonchar in exchange for a conditional sixth round pick. The condition: that the 39-year-old, who was reportedly quite far along in talks to join Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the KHL, signed a deal to remain stateside. With that, we braced ourselves to see how the next month of talks would play out.

A day later, the saga is over. According to Mike Heika, less than 24 hours later, the Stars and Sergei Gonchar have reached a deal that will pay Gonchar $10 million over next two years.

If you're wondering how they did it so quickly, you must have missed the part where I said "two years" and "$10 million". That's huge money for Gonchar, 39, whom the Stars believe can be a no. 1 guy and a powerplay quarterback (and considering what he's being paid, he'd damn well better).

Opens up some draft moves if possible. While I think GoGo is safe for the most part Larsen, Daley, Robi, prospect Ds be easy moves, to move up or aquire picks/players. Robi has huge vaule right now, more so than at deadline if you think about it.

Should be a great addition to the mix imo lot of great qualities we need. Impressed with Nill and new owner making things happen thus far.

Hope we can land Guathier in the draft!

Short term no it's not, but no worse really than bringing in Nill and the Red Wings patient approach to prospect development. I should say, assuming he brings that approach. I don't think Morrow was going to make the team, at least not for a full season, just yet anyway. He's only had one full AHL season and second would benefit all parties.

Long term this doesn't hurt him at all, his outlook is still really good. He misses the chance to mentor with a fellow offensive minded D-man in Gonchar, but he gains more time working with Doug Lidster in Cedar Park on all aspects of his game.

And who knows, since Gonch is locked up for two years, maybe in 2014-15 Morrow gets his chance to learn from him. Plus there's offseason workouts and camp to get pointers.

Here's a little something to consider....

    Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 17m
Also, PHI is in market for D and may be willing to move one of their young centres - B Schenn or Couturier - for the right deal.

Maybe package up one of Daley/Robidas with another piece if need be, say a D or RW prospect, and try to land one of those two? Could potentially open the door for a Benn return to his natural spot at left wing.

Here's a name to file away for later when talking centers, Paul Stastny. I still argue he has the tools, he just needs a change of scenery, and he is UFA this time next year. He's a good setup man and one of the best in the league on faceoffs, something the Stars could use help with. Benn-Stastny-Eriksson, and in time Chiasson/Ritchie, that could be very good.

Sean would be a great addition!

PHI needs to shed some salary as well? Robi/Larsen or Rome+ might work. Zilla needs a few Robis haha.

    Kennedy prolly done in PIT...
