Chiasson made the trip with the team, but won't play tonight and is still considered day-to-day.

Huge win last night that leapfrogged the Stars over the Wings into ninth place. Both teams are sitting two points back of eighth place Columbus and have two games in hand on the Blue Jackets. That final day showdown looms larger and larger. It really has become a three horse race, with the numbers playing in the Stars and Wings favor.

The only changes anticipated for tonight looks to be on defense with Jordie Benn drawing in as an injury replacement. I haven't seen anything official but would suspect it's Daley who would be the scratch as he was nursing an injury prior to last night's game.

Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm starting to get a good feeling about their chances. They can't let up one iota if they want to make it, but so far over the last couple of weeks they haven't shown any signs of taking their foot off the gas.

Got to hand it to the Blues, they have found the ultimate cure for insomnia. Is there a more boring spectacle is sports than watching a game involving the Blues?

Four games left now, and after tonight now the pressure is cranked up another notch. The one saving grace is that two of those four are against the teams they're fighting for that final spot. The Stars can't really afford to lose, or lose more than one, the rest of the way. I still think a playoff spot is within reach but they're going to be tested.

Any update on Roussel? He got rocked at the end of last game and left the game. Is he playing this week?
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

I haven't seen any mention of an injury so far. I'll take that as a green light for his availability.

By at least picking up a point in last night's game the Stars still control their own fate. Win out, in regulation, and they're in. It's just that simple. They just have to be ready to leave it all on the ice in San Jose tomorrow night. If they get through that one with a "W", it's heads up against the teams their fighting with for eighth.

Saturday night's game against the suddenly mortal Red Wings ought to be a barnburner. Dallas trying to avoid a five year playoff drought and the Wings looking to continue a two decade plus run of playoff appearances, can't wait to watch that one. But that is assuming that both teams take care of business between then and now.

Looks like these will be the lines tonight....

    Whitney - Benn - Eriksson
    Nystrom - Fiddler - Cole
    Smith - Eakin - Garbutt
    Roussel - Wandell - MacDermid

    Daley - Robidas
    Dillon - Goligoski
    Rome - Larsen

    Lehtonen

Chiasson is skating and shooting but will be a scratch again tonight. Word is he may be back in the lineup Thursday against Columbus.

I'll say it....that was a kick in the balls. Right there for the taking and it all disappears in the blink of an eye. It wasn't for lack of effort though, but this just about throws dirt on a shot at the playoffs. Then again who thought just three weeks ago that we'd even be in this spot.

Seriously! Trade Jagr and Roy and you'd expect a dropoff!

The kids on this team didn't get the memo.

Got to hand it to them, they seized the opportunity an ran with it. It's going to come up short again this year but it should pay dividends down the road.....but still it sucks that it slipped away.

Yeah, I don't feel any sympathy for the Stars. Though, I do miss the days when they had Zubov manning the point and Turco was a Shark killer. Always made for great hockey. See you guys in the playoffs next year.

Wow.....It's not like they're done yet.

Detroit doesn't necessarily have a cake-walk tomorrow vs LAK. And the Stars play Columbus Thursday and then Detroit Saturday!! What more could they ask for?

Not only Zubov, but my one of my favorite players regardless of team....Derian Hatcher.

Yeah, he always did damage. That was one scary team back in the day. They had goaltending, could move the puck, and crush you. That used to be a rivalry, but there isn't any of that anymore.
