    Default Justin Schultz pts?

Now that he has signed in Edmonton, what pt totals do you think he'll get next season?

Given he's more mature and a control type offensive dman, I can see 40 pts easily with the forwards there. He's got the breakout passing ability as well. He's more calm and composed with the puck so he may have to adjust to the aggressive defensive style in the NHL.

There may be an initial adjustment period but as long as he does adjust and get the ice-time, I see no reason why 35-40 isn't reachable.

Yeah, I will refrain from trying to gauge his point total, but I think the first half of the season we'll see some struggles, but by second half the season can see him starting to click. We need to see how the team shapes up once camp breaks.

    Anywhere from 35-60.

Hard to say without seeing him play an NHL game first.

Under 40 for sure. This is a rookie d-man. I don't care who he's going to be playing with. He won't be playing #1 minutes right away. Don't like his mental toughness after this whole sideshow either.

    Ev is right

Has talent but definitely overhyped. Use caution with your projections.

    I see mid 20s to 30 tops

Corey Potter managed to get 21 pts in 62 games. Depending on how Schultz's health holds up I see no reason why he wont hit 30+ pts in his initial season.

I agree with this. However, I wouldn't be shocked to see a Tyler Myers like rookie season. 40 points is doable if he becomes the powerplay go to guy like is expected.

just keep in mind hes a rookie and a defense. 40 points would be huge.

    Bang on.

40 points is tough for a D to get period.
19 D did it last year. None were rookies.

Some notables who failed to reach 40 pts.

    Subban
    Enstrom
    Doughty
    Burns
    Lidstrom
    Carlson

If Shultz hits 8-22-30 I'll be impressed.
The pace in the NHL will be a lot faster than Wisconsin.

I'll add that Wisconsin didnt have these kind of forwards. If he's the regular PP guy, 30 pts is the minimum just by being there. This is the kind of player where you can gain a big advantge in your fantasy league especially one yr leagues.

I hear the same argument when people talk about players going to Pittsburgh and the like. People put too much stock into a player's teammates. 30 pts is not the minimum, and it's not even a guarantee that their PP is any good this year (PP does not translate from year-to-year).

A guy like Fowler didn't even reach 30 points this season and he had just as good of forwards up front. Nothing is a given.

I'll say that I"m loving the optimism though. I got a pretty good return for him in my league (Jack Johnson).

Production in the NHL is tied to ice time and PP time and this whole thing banks on Schultz getting that.

The Oiler powerplay was one of the best in the league last year and should be again, but this time with Schultz playing Potter's position.

30 is the minimum with a healthy season if he gets that #1 PP spot.
