Studs and Duds has been MIA for a few days but were back today with all the fantasy highs and lows from Monday nights games. There were six games in total, some had major playoff implications, others little to none. Here are the Studs & Duds

Studs

The Winged Wheel is Flying High
The Detroit Red Wings looked like the Harlem Globetrotters of Hockey last night. Unfortunatley for the Columbus Blue Jackets, they played the role of the Washington Generals. The Wings destroyed the Jackets by a score of 7-2 and literally looked like they were toying with them the way a cat toys with a mouse. Todd Bertuzzi and Henrik Zetterberg each had four assists to pace the slaughter.

Ottawa Senators shoot down Jets playoff hopes

In a game that both teams needed to win, it was the Sens that came out with the win lead by their star players Spezza, Alfredsson, and Erik Karlsson
Captain Daniel Alfredsson scored two goals, was plus 3 and had five shots.
Jason Spezza had three beauty assists, a plus 2 and five shots.
Erik Karlsson added three more assists to his Norris Trophy bid and boosted his plus/minus by plus-5. Is there any question he wins the Norris, seriously?

Sharks sink teeth into third place in Western Conference

The Sharks jumped up the standings from being on the outside of a playoff spot looking in, to third in the conference with last nights convincing 5 - 1 win over the Colorado Avalanche. It was an impressive team effort as 12 players found the score sheet, lead by Joe Pavelski (2 goals) and Dan Boyle (2 goals)

Honorable mention
Mike Cammalleri helped lead the Flames to victory with a goal and two assists to keep their playoff chances alive.
Roberto Luongo made 38 saves for a shut out victory over the low powered LA Kings offense.

Duds

Columbus sucks!
This team sucks. They are the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked!
With a 16 point cushion on the fail for Nail sweepstakes, I think they can stop tanking!

Master of the Universe
The master of the Universe Mr. Ilya Bryzgalov was out of sync with the galaxy last night. He allowed four goals against in only 14 shots for a .714 save% in Philadelphia's 5-3 loss to Tampa Bay

Two teams, Five Players, Minus 20, zero points

The line of Jamie McGinn, Paul Stastny, and David Jones each were minus -4 for the Colorado Avalanche and the Av's are out of the playoffs today.
Andrew Ladd and Bryan Little also posted a minus -4 for the Jets in their loss to the Sens last night, erasing any chance of a post season in Winnipeg. That is a shame because it has been like a playoff atmosphere in Winnipeg all season long, imagine how electric that city would be for even one round of playoff hockey!

Dishonorable mention
Mike Ribiero committed one of the absolute worst give a ways I have ever seen. Blake Comeau was the recipient. Then immediatly after Ribiero losses a draw cleanly that directly leads to a goal. He was practically standing still watching as Calgary scored again. On behalf of all the Flames fans in the world, Thank you Mike Ribiero, just for being you.
Steve Mason was lit up by Detroit last night. six goals against on 28 shots. Brutal! To his defense however, Detroit scored some beautiful goals and he was hung out to dry on some of them. If Mason who is a former Calder Trophy winner has any hope of salvaging his career, he has to get out of Columbus!
Nicklas Kronwall, Dan Cleary, Drew Miller, and Justin Abdelkader each posted a plus/minus of minus -1 in a game in which they outscored the opposition 7-2. Shame on you.
