I went with Kane over RNH, as Kane's body of work gives him the edge.

Yet I took Eberle over Toews, despite Toews also having that edge.

I'm not asking anyone to agree or disagree..more making a random statement on the reasons we have for making certain decisions in fantasy hockey.

This Cage Match is a solid idea.

Yeah the two Hawks/Oilers ones are pretty tight. I gotta go with the proven guys though when in doubt.

Eberle, Kane, Giroux, and Malkin for me. The first two were close.

Went with Kane over RNH because I worry about RNH's durability. Looks like those of us concerned about his body withstanding the bigger, stronger NHL had legit concerns. Kane, despite being a small, first overall pick as well, has shown he is better at avoiding injuries.

Went with Eberle over Toews mostly due to offensive upside, though this was a tough decision for me. Could have gone either way really.

Agreed, very close. I think I went with Toews because of his proven leadership capabilities, performance under pressure assure me of his place/position on the team. As much as one can be assured when it comes to these things.

Unless you are a REAL world manager (not fantasy) or you actually count the playoffs, Toews is not the better player here. Don't get me wrong, Toews has great talent and he's solid across the board it's just I can't ignore Eberle's talent being superior in just his sophomore year. His PIM production will be low but that's easily overlooked because Toews is as gentle in the PIMs dept.

Im personally just not a very big Eberle fan for fantasy sports. He's doing everything right, but I can't help but feel he's going to be the lonely 3rd wheel type guy putting up clutch 70-75 point seasons down the road. While Toews maintains his defensive responsibility while learning to add more and more offense to it.

    Toews.

edit: Boogeypop - why St Louis with your 2nd overall pick? You can do better. Quick is a shoe in, but St Louis is on his way down.

    Toews.

I feel the complete opposite. I think Eberle is the 1st wheel, or 1A, for Edmonton going forward. Just wait until Edmonton gets some D (both offensive and defensive, if that ever happens), and those young players mesh together even more, adding in Magnus, Omark, etc.

Eberle has a better upside for his skill set and role, let alone the young players that are around him for years to come
