We have a beer & wine in Nanaimo that stocks really heavy on BC Micro-Brewed beers. I've been trudging through this summer trying as many taster-packs as possible. On a really solid Phillips Brewery one right now, Czech Pilsner, Extra Pale Ale & Session Ale.. Anything without a honey brown is a win!

Why do they insist on stuffing a mixer with 3/4 honey browns... Maybe if you can't sell it, stop making it! Ruins a pack every time.

I also do a live draft 9 players +1G in pts only at Longwood Brew Pub. Hockey Draft & great beer.. deadly combo!

Got to try a couple of different brews from Austin Beerworks while I was down there on vacation. Really liked their Black Thunder Schwarz and Fire Eagle IPA. Their Einhorn Berliner Weisse is good, but a bit light bodied for my taste. It is great though for those hot summer days if your looking for something to cool down with, have multiple cans and not get completely arsefaced. Unfortunately they are a small regional brewer as far as I can tell, but if you find yourself in and around Austin they are well worth trying.

Sad to say the big fish I was looking for went unfound. Really wanted to get my hands on some of Rabbit Hole's Modano 561 Kolsch. Next time I'm not leaving Texas until I find it. Of course it wouldn't break my heart if the next time I set foot in Texas I could just stay there.

I still prefer the Rochefort 10 from same said merchant.
Roch10 over Victory as Sea? No friggin way. Victory at Sea is an elevated form of brewing. Roch10 is good, but not in the same league. Personal preference I guess as the Roch10 is rated very highly.

I have to agree with you, AW. I love Roch 8 and 10, but jeebus Victory at Sea is a level unto itself. I owe NWO my liver for getting hooked on that brew.

EDIT: I will say debating which is the better brew between Roch 10 and VAS is splitting hairs in very rarefied air. Like arguing over Antonio Brown vs. Julio Jones in fantasy football, or Elle Macpherson (circa 1994) vs. Pamela Anderson (pre-Hep C)

Well ladies and gents, this thread has been quiet for too long. Sadly, this is a report on a beer that was terrible!

Rocky Road White stout - 5% ABV.

Looks crazy coming out of the can. Never had a white stout before. I am very excited to try it. Gave it a few sniffs, doesn't smell like much. Tried a sip. Instant sweetness that did not see appropriate. Candy tasting. I instantly dislike it, but I decide to push on with it seeing as I already bought it and sometimes a beer grows on you after a few tastes. This one did not. I ended up pouring half of it down the sink. Mostly so I could fill my glass with another beer which would get this taste out of my mouth..... 10 out of 10, would not purchase again.

Enjoyed a Blindman/Troubled Monk Peculier Fellows Ale earlier this evening.

A fairly faithful local clone of Theakston's Old Peculier. Quite nice really. Very much appreciating the explosion of new, good, breweries in Alberta of late.

I should have mentioned this sooner, but for the Victoria beer drinkers, the Veneto Tapas Lounge in the Rialto hotel downtown has Ballast Point Sculpin on tap... soooo, yeah. The also have Little Sumpin Sumpin on tap and, because it is Victoria, the ubiquitous Fat Tug.

No, there really isn't. I consider myself spoiled to live in a town were a beer that good is a common offering on tap.

Agreed! We need to revive this mutha. It's generally porter, quad, and stout season at Chez Bomm. However, I have been hanging out at a local brewery, Big Ditch, and have been enjoying their Excavator (Rye Brown Ale) and Hayburner (American IPA). Enjoyable beers.

I had a Polly want a Pilsner (http://www.hopcity.com/polly-want-a-pilsner/) and it was pretty good. 3.5-4/5. But the best one I’ve had recently was a Balls Falls (https://untappd.com/b/bench-brewing-...-falls/1606521). It’s a wee bit fruity taste too it, kinda like Blue Moon. I got it on Augusta St in Hamilton Ontario. It’s the Hipster street, so it has the better craft beer selection out there.
