Statement from Mario, Burkle and Morehouse:

To our Penguins Fans and Community:

We offer our apology. There is nothing we can say to explain or excuse what has happened over the past four months.

However, now that the NHL is back, we want to assure you that the Pittsburgh Penguins will do everything we can to regain your trust and show how much we value your amazing support.

The sounds of skates churning across the ice and pucks banging against the glass are returning to CONSOL Energy Center. That means a healthy Sidney Crosby is about to rejoin NHL MVP Evgeni Malkin, first-team All-Star James Neal, Marc-Andre Fleury, Kris Letang, Brooks Orpik and others as we begin our quest to bring the Stanley Cup back to Pittsburgh.

We want to thank you for your patience and your loyalty to the Penguins. We hope to repay it many times over. Our commitment to winning the Stanley Cup and our commitment to you has not changed.

We look forward to seeing you at CONSOL Energy Center.

So Bylsma says he is going to go with Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis on 1 line and Neal-Malkin-?? on line 2.

    Chris Nichols ‏@Nichols_NHLPool
Dan Bylsma: Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis will be reunited on one line. Deadly Malkin-Neal combo back together too. Several candidates on wing. #Pens

    Pittsburgh Penguins ‏@penguins
Bylsma: We have an idea that Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis and Neal-Malkin playing together. I can see several players fitting with Malkin-Neal

Call me a bit crazy but I wouldn't be overly surprised if Tanner Glass sneaks his way onto that line. Glass can free up a ton of space for Neal and Malkin but in all likely hood it's going to be whoever is playing well at the time.

Also if Malkin/Neal get off to a slow start I'm sure Kunitz will be put back on that line because Crosby can adapt and play with almost anyone it seems. Crosby with Dupuis and [Insert Name] is a great line. Bennett/Tangradi/Glass/Cooke... doesn't really mean a lot I don't think.

Can't see any chance of Glass in top-6. Cooke and Kennedy are much more likely options. As are Bennett and Tangradi.

Is Tangradi still that highly thought off considering the poor season he is having in the AHL??

Would Jeffrey not be a good option now that he is healthy again?

Kennedy and Cooke should be much more likely options but Bylsma loves players like Glass and he has shown in Pittsburgh before if he likes a player he pushes them up. Either way Malkin deserves someone better than Kennedy, Cooke, and Glass.

Bylsma also loved Asham and Rupp and neither got to see top-6 minutes. Only a rare shift or two here and there but not regularly. And neither will Glass.

This will be make or break year for Tangradi. He's struggled in AHL but will get his chance. I'd love to see Jeffrey get a fair shot too but I don't think Bylsma has ever shown much trust for him for some reason.

Byslma also never mentioned Rupp and Asham as a potential pairing either.
I just don't think Tangradi is a fit for Malkin. He has the power forward aspect down but his 2 way game is suspect and his speed isn't enough to keep up with Malkin or get back on defense when Malkin does something stupid like a blind or forced pass which goes back the other way. Jeffreys would be a much better fit but he doesn't do the dirty work which would make Neal have to do more of that instead of scoring 40 goals. I'm throwing my vote to Cooke.. he has changed as a player but is can still agitate and do the dirty work (plus he has enough talent).

Back to Tangradi.. I think Tangradi would be an excellent fit on the 3rd line with Sutter. Sutter could cover up for a lot of Tangradi's defensive issues (plus Tangradi would learn to be a better 2 way player), the line would have a lot of size and physicallity, and it would give the 3rd line decent offense.

Sutter/Tangradi/Kennedy 3rd line would be solid or even Glass instead of Kennedy.. that line would just hurt people haha.

    Expected opening night roster:

    Kunitz - Crosby - Dupuis
    Tangradi - Malkin - Neal
    Cooke - Sutter - Kennedy
    Glass - Jeffrey/Vitale - Adams

    Despres - Letang
    Martin - Orpik
    Engelland - Niskanen
(Bortuzzo and Lovejoy as the extras)

    Fleury
    Vokoun

I'm very, very exited to see Sutter in action. I heard he was great yesterday in the scrimmage game.

Despres has been that good, huh? I heard he might be get sent down because of his waiver eligibility, but if he's good enough to stay, he must be really good at this point.

From the sounds of it he hasn't been exactly great but the roster was cut down to 23 players today and Despres is still with the team. Bylsma has also talked about pairing him with Letang and that's where he's been in the camp too. He can still be sent down as he doesn't have to clear waivers but for now it sure looks like he'll be on the opening night roster and will get his chance.

So what do you think about Tangradi on the big line?

Can he stick? Any PP time? I am debating snatching him off the wire, now that it looks like my sleeper Tlusty is getting bumped to the third line.

How short is this kid's leash?

    Thanks

I have my doubts that he can hang with a Malkin. I see him getting bumped to the 4th line or eventually traded. IMO, Bennett out played him and should be back as long as he keeps tearing up the A.
