I didn't see this until today, but it looks like the Hurricanes are pushing Peters back into the AHL to play with Murphy next year, then looking to secure a backup that will actually perform behind Cam Ward.

My thoughts for the best goalie to fill this gig?

Peter Budaj.

Will sign for cheap, is experienced in that 20-game role, great work ethic, attitude and teammate.

So long, Justin Pogge. He will drop even lower down the Top-100 Prospects Rankings ... but he had very little hope to begin with.

Does this hurt or help Peters' ranking? Well, it hurts for the time being, but this is actually better for him in the long run. He needs to play!!! This year was a total waste since all he did was sit on the bench.

It's also good news for Murphy because he gets challenged by a goalie with more experience. It's a good competition for him to be in.

Good move by the Hurricanes. Opens the door for a backup to come in and continue their career. I think Budaj is the best fit, but there are TONS of good options out there for the Hurricanes. If it's Legacy, I'll lose my mind.
