    Default Lauri Korpikoski

Lauri Korpikoski will be an important fantasy player if Phoenix Coyotes' general manager Don Maloney's hunches are correct.

"I really think the sky's the limit," Maloney said. "I would not put him in a strictly third-, fourth-line checking, penalty killing - not at all.I think he could explode and get 30 goals in this league, or he could be 10, 15 and one of your top match-up wingers. His versatility makes him a very valuable player."

Here are the cuts from today. No surprises.

    • Philip Lane: Forward-Brampton-OHL

    • Lucas Lessio: Forward-Oshawa-OHL

    • Harrison Ruopp: Defenseman-Prince Albert-WHL

    • Justin Weller: Defenseman-Red Deer-WHL

The Coyotes also announced that defenseman Dylan King has been released from training camp. There are now 57 players remaining in the Coyotes veterans training camp.
It's mostly sunny today in Phoenix with a high of 103F/39C.

Well it has been hard to collect information about the young guys at the Yote's camp but here is what they're saying-

    - the old-timers line of Whitney-Langkow-Doan has been the best line in the pre-season
    - none of the youngsters has stood out for the right reasons
    - McLean has underwhelmed and not been impressive. The feeling is that if he's not scoring he doesn't add enough other skills to be worthwhile
    - Tikohonov has been invisible
    - Boedker just isn't showing any offensive instincts. Feeling is he may make the team but has looked unmotivated for someone trying to make the team
    - Andy Miele has looks like he needs time in the AHL which isn't surprising
    - OEL is doing well, rushing/handling the puck. Had a pretty ggod game vs Edmonton last night
    - GM Maloney has been singing Lauri Korpikoski's praises during camp
    - someone else having a good camp is Patty O'Sullivan. Apparently he had 2 points on the PP last night. He bears watching

    Last night's game vs Edmonton:

Miele with 14 min TOI, 0 SOG, 0pt.
    McLean, 13 min TOI, 0 SOG, 0pt.
    Boedker, 16 min TOI, 2 SOG, 0pt.

I find the comment at the bottom about Turris just wanting out very interesting. A trade out of Phoenix would benefit him in the short term but he probably makes a bad name for himself in GM ranks long-term. The last thing they want is a tough bargainer that can't back it up.

Good to see Boedker get his first goal a few nights ago....

How has he looked, and what do you expect from him this year?

Anyone have some thoughts on whether Hanzal has the skill/effort level to stay on the top PP this year? I picked him up due to injuries and have been very happy with his all round contributions (points, hits, PIM).

Would really appreciate some info on Boedker. I may have to drop Mueller and he is one of the options.

I'm glad that he is secured a top six role, but he still doesn't get much PP time. I am hoping for production this year, but will take marginal production from a solid keeper.

How's he looking so far and what can I expect this year?

    thanks a lot

I would love to see those two play together. The sniper and the set-up man.
