Any chance I could get some input on Parenteau? He was great last season but tailed off right at the end.... His contract means he'll get prime scoring minutes, anyone wanna take a stab at a projection for next season?

I see absolutely no reason why his play should falter for next season. As an Avs fan, I got to watch them suck HUGE last year (especially at the end when they flat out tanked). PA and Dutchy had the only line that could score, so the gameplan for the other team was to shut them down and focus all their attention on them. Could be one of the reasons why his production slipped.

He's got the chemistry with Duchene like he had with Tavares. The thing you should like about owning and Avs player next year is Roy. He was known as an offensive minded coach in the Q and will be bringing that over to Colorado next season. Unlike Sacco, he is NOT a dump and chase coach which is great news for players like Parenteau, who thrive on being able to create speed and offense from the neutral zone in towards enemy territory.

As for a projection? Don't see why 65-70 points is unreachable, providing Roy likes him and keeps him with Dutchy.

Barring injury PA should be a lock for 65 points. He'll be playing first line minutes with Duchene. The chemistry that they exhibited last season is only going to improve, and as Duchene improves, so will PAP. His goals will go down however, as he won't be able to sustain a 17% shooting percentage next season.

I hope Roy tries out Tanguay with MacKinnon - it'd be great to put him on with some veterans instead of McGinn.

I can see MacKinnon going to the wing in place of OReilly if that doesn't work out with Duchene and Parenteau....

Looking at the advanced stats last year, Landy and Stastny didn't fair well together, so perhaps after training camp the lines would look more like:

    Landy-Duchene-PAP
    Tanguay-Stastny-MacKinnon

Having OReilly and Duchene on the ice for ice offs in the D zone would be good to have however it would be preferable to maximize that lines' offensive opportunities to use them more in the offensive zone.
When did Tanguay become a defensive liability? I always red the opposite of him, that he is defensively responsible and is a big PK guy.

Have seen him in Calgary a number of times. He has very good instincts on the defensive side and on the PK can be an extremely useful player. However he isn't big enough to be a line's top defensive specialist in tying up the other top player... He's not one to mix it up on the boards but will be sharp with his reads as to where the puck is kicked out and how to clear the zone.

Im a little concerned about the projected lines.

I have no doubt Mackinnon will be a great offensive center one day, but not as an 18-year old on a (probably) bad team. Stamkos had St.Louis on his wing for the majority of his rookie year, the Avs dont have a winger like that. If the Avs had to do it out of necessity, fine. But theyre currently projected to move a solid 2-way center in O'Reilly in order to accommodate Mackinnon whose going to play with the #5 and #6 wingers on the team.

Im still going to pick Mackinnon over Drouin, but I wouldve thought putting Mackinnon in a position to succeed by starting his career on the wing wouldve been smart. Roy (and Sakic) probably know something I/we dont when it comes to special players like that.

those lines look a lot more likely to me, once the real games start. makes more sense for them to sacrifice 2 checking lines so that the top-6 can feast on easy minutes.

to me the comments from Roy read more like trying to manage expectations for MacK with the local fanbase/media by pitching him as a 3rd-liner for year 1. hopefully they can avoid the stamkos-level freakouts.

That makes sense, I hope that is the case. I would love if the above lines are what ends up happening, I have landeskog (and soon mackinnon) so they'd be in the best position to succeed haha
One day I will quit fantasy hockey, today is not that day.
