  1. Re: Defenseman scoring is the most random thing...

Regarding Karlsson's +/-....yes, you'd like to grab a Dman who's great in all categories, but having a guy who puts up big G, A, Pts, PPG, PPA numbers is alright.

And +/-, along with PIMs, is one...
  2. Re: Most predictable NHL awards in recent memory

I'll agree with this from SeaDawg.

Karlsson may not have had the most impressive season defensively when he won...but he beat the next best blueliner by 25points, adding a completely new element...
  3. Re: Chris Kunitz - Point Projection for Next Year and Beyond

I traded for him in a points-only, assuming the same thing as you guys.

He's locked-in with Sid, has a new deal, so count on 70ish for the next two, three years.

Classic case of a good player...
  4. Re: Defenseman scoring is the most random thing...

I would add that this thread also underlines why having and holding onto a top defenseman is key in a keeper league...and that if you can get two or three of them, you have an advantage.

    But if...

Poll: Re: Points only - Schultz or Trouba

    Thanks for the comments, folks.

I've added a poll - mostly to prove to myself that I'm capable of doing so - but also to have another view on the topic, because it seems fairly split right now.

Re: Who do you prefer Huberdeau - Granlund

I jumped to the conclusion that it's a concussion, so maybe my bad on that.

But when he has a concussion history, and leaves a game after taking a bit of a bump to the head...well, I don't know if...

Poll: Points only - Schultz or Trouba

One final keeper spot in a points-only pool. Keep 12 total.

I'm stuck between Trouba and Schultz as my final keeper of the 12.

Trouba/Schultz would be my third D keeper (behind Karlsson and...

Re: Upside - does it really matter?

I've gotta agree with these replies.

Upside matters to me with a prospect...but I think I'm realistic to know they don't hit that upside all that often. But I'd rather have a high-upside guy (as...

Haha! I've never been good with spicy foods, Dobber.

I hear you on the upside/downside argument, but my concern would be if the Islanders ever put the pieces around JT to ensure that upside...

Re: Stamkos or Tavares, pts only?

I'll go with the argument of: If you have Stamkos, you probably wouldn't trade him for Tavares. And if you have Tavares, you probably won't trade him for Stamkos.

    I'm like Axeman33 - fortunate to...

    Okay, seriously now.

What do me make of Marty in New York? This is 3 points in 11 or 12 games since the trade.

I know it's a different system, teammates, coaches, etc, etc...but it's still in...
  15. Re: Does Tyler win the Taylor vs. Tyler battle finally?

I actually thought when the Taylor/Tyler debate was going on that Tyler would be better, mostly because he had to do more for his junior team in Plymouth.

There's been more, uh, growing pains for...

Re: Who do you prefer Huberdeau - Granlund

But then one has to factor in that Granlund will be playing beside Parise, Pominville (this year)...and potentially with Moulson, Vanek as well.....and that has to beat who Huberdeau will be with, as...

I think the Avs had a late scratch they were caught a bit unaware of - either they thought Stastny or John Mitchell could play but they couldn't - and so the Barrie as forward move was just a filling...

Re: Mackinnon: What would YOU give up?

In my points-only league, I would offer any guy I've got right now other than Tavares and Stamkos. I'd have to think hard about trading Karlsson. His production on the blueline is huge. So the list...

    Poll: Re: Voracek or Huberdeau

I'm on the Voracek train here, too.

Plays on a line with Giroux, sees 1st PP duties with Giroux. That's pretty good.

I moved Huberdeau earlier this year in a points-only pool - adding veteran...

yes. Do the deal. And thats about all the insight you should need on this one

    Point progressions for Scheifele?
  23. Re: Craig Button on the Oilers problems - "Its starts with the coach."
