  1. Re: Chara laughing at Brendan Smith trying to fight him

Impressive that Chara has the strength to hold Reilly off with one arm. Reminds me of the story told by Stan Smyl of how he once slugged Dave Semenko as hard as he could, and instead of killing Smyl...

Re: What if Yakupov is dealt?

It might be instructive to look at other top bombs, such as Patrik Stefan, to see how their first three years looked. Here is Stefan's (GP, G, A, Pts):

    1999-00 Atlanta Thrashers NHL 72 5 20 25 ...

    Re: Central Scouting Final Rankings

I've seen more than person comment on other sites about not liking Dal Colle at all. Anybody know what's the issue with him?

    Re: MacKinnon hits 60pts, thanks!

Man, you need to take that offer and run!
  6. Re: Gaudreau now with 74pts and countng on the season

Dionne played at about 5'8", 180 in an era when the players were significantly smaller so I wouldn't consider him a small player. Today, he would most certainly be one though.
  7. Re: Arcobello signs one year extension with Oilers

I guess I didn't help to bolster his trade value :0
  8. Re: Monahan joins a rare group in Calgary

If I remember my history right, Titov was the first Russian released by the Soviets to play in North America. He was released because he was most certainly not in Makarov's league (so to speak).

  9. Re: Arcobello signs one year extension with Oilers

Crap - I really wanted him to get out of Edmonton as he isn't getting a fair shot. This will be even more so if they decide they need more size and grit up front.

    Sticky: Re: Edmonton Oilers

Is it the coach again??? How many coaches have to be sacrificed there before they start looking somewhere else?

    Re: Yakupov

I've said this on other Yak threads - how can you lose faith in a 20-year old, first overall pick with 111 games played? He wasn't even in the lineup for the past two shit-shows the Oilers produced,...

Re: Help me with my keepers! Rep

I agree. With 14 teams you'll sew up two of the busiest goaltenders in Price and Rinne, and Hedman is quickly becoming elite.

    Serge - great analysis!
  14. Re: Habs prospect Tim Bozon being treated for menangitis

As the parent of a teen, meningitis is a sneaky, scary thing that you always check for when your kid has a persistent fever. If it takes hold and they don't catch it in time, it can go very badly in...
  15. Re: Habs prospect Tim Bozon being treated for menangitis

    s'okay :)
  16. Re: Which Option to Replace Kane (will rep)

Cammalleri for me too, as Calgary has no other options and he's heating up after a long dry spell. Carolina is subject to too much line juggling and Teravainen or someone else could replace Shaw.
  17. Re: Habs prospect Tim Bozon being treated for menangitis

    Really?
  18. Re: Should I go for it OR play conservative?

    3G tonight - well done.
  19. Re: Should I go for it OR play conservative?

Whether or not there is prize money involved, the last time I checked the objective of any pool is to win. So, go for it before 1st place scoops Stamkos to seal the victory.

    Re: John Gaudreau

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a look for a few games near the end of this season, then plays in Abbotsford next year. He's small, but he's also far ahead production-wise of most small college...
  23. Re: 2014 Draft - what's after the top 5?

It was Jankowski. Just ask Feaster.
  24. Re: 2014 Draft - what's after the top 5?

What big-bodied centre are you referring to? I wouldn't consider Reinhart or Bennett to be "big-bodied"
  25. Re: 2014 Draft - what's after the top 5?

Who was? Trouba? Murray? I think it's too early to tell.
  26. Re: 2014 Draft - what's after the top 5?

Conventional wisdom says you take the F as there is less developmental risk.
  27. Re: 2014 Draft - what's after the top 5?

Maybe you did, but Yak was the consensus no.1. There was a discussion as to whether the Oil should fill a need and take Galchenyuk but they opted to take the consensus no. 1 overall (i.e., best...
  28. Re: 2014 Draft - what's after the top 5?

So they were still correct in taking Yakupov over Galchenyuk?
  29. Re: 2014 Draft - what's after the top 5?

To me it looks like Ekblad is too tempting to pass on. Their top centre needs to be more physical than Reinhart to deal with the likes of Getzlaf, Kopitar, etc. Calgary is up-sizing in the middle...
  30. Re: 2014 Draft - what's after the top 5?

Ekblad seems to be a no brainer for the Oil - he and Nurse could anchor their blueline for years...
