Trade Advice: Jake Allen

Our trade deadline is soon and I'm looking to solidy my goalies to make the playoffs.
I currently have the last playoff spot, I would be trading Seguin for Jake Allen straight up.

Current goalies are Lundy, Hiller, Varlamov. Would Allen be considered an upgrade to Varly? Will he take over Halak's #1 spot the rest of this season?

Would this be a good trade?

Team/Stats in sig, thanks.

I still see Halak taking back the reins in a couple of weeks. I don't like Seguin for Allen.

Seguin for Allen. Um....No. Seguin is a top talent and should be valued as such. I'm a diehard Blues fan but even I realize that Jake Allen is merely the flavor of the week. He will come crashing back to his level and when he does Halak will take the reigns again. Stay with what you have.

As mediocre as Halak has been since returning from injury and as good as Allen has been in relief, there really is no way he takes the starting role. Let alone the huge contract difference, Halak is a proven commodity with a very strong playoff record. I just don't see how a coach who relies on veterans, like Hitchcock, goes into the playoffs with the expectations the Blues have riding an unproven rookie goalie

no chance id trade seguin for allen.

As good as Allen has been I wouldn't gamble on him yet considering his two-way contract. Halak should be manning the net soon enough, it would be a BIG surprise if he isn't, and Seguin is a first line scorer.

If you wanted to gamble on Allen being a better 'tender than Varlamov from here on out then I would think Varly would be the likely drop candidate. Now THAT is something I think you could take a gamble on.

thanks all for replying, rep given. needed that to smack some sense into me. perhaps i can upgrade with bobro on the wire, but i'm hoping lundy/varly to turn it around and for hiller to slowly steal back his #1.

just curious though, which of the following would make sense if i can get the owner to bite?

1 of: marchand, hall, voracek, tarasenko; for allen

if bobrovsky is on your wire why are you screwing around chasing allen

Update: Picked up Bobro off the wire, but he really crapped out last game and got yanked. Is this a concern or will he bounce back?

Also I've been offered Allen for my Marchand, I can try to trade away Varlamov or stay put and hope Colorado can get their act together till the end of season.
I'm sitting just out of the final playoff spot, my goalie stats have been okay but i'm struggling in the goals department.

Should I take it?

I think Bob will be fine, though he has a history of collapse after a bad outing, I think this time is different. I hope...
