Selling high on Crawford
Competing two years from now:
1) Crawford vs Seguin 2) Crawford Iginla JJohnson vs Yakupov Skinner Ballard 3) None of the above and ask for more |
A year ago I would have thought none of these would be options, but Crawford is in the discussion as a serious contender for the Vezina this year, so I think you might be able to get more. With only 12 teams there are probably a few goalies floating around on the WW, right? And you've got Markstrom as well, so shopping Crawford makes perfect sense.
I'm not a huge fan of the 2nd deal. It seems like you shouldn't have to get stuck with Ballard when you're giving up some real quality pieces. If they can upgrade the defenseman I'd do it, or even Crawford and Iginla for Yakupov and Skinner. That should really help you in 2 years from now. The Seguin deal isn't bad, but in my experience top-5 goalies (this season at least) go for more than that. He's 61st in the league in scoring right now. I realize that he's supposed to become one of the premier offensive players in the league, but he's not there yet. Maybe if they added a draft pick I'd go for it. |
In my opinion, Crawford is more a product of Chicago then really emerging as a fantasy stud. Proof of this is Emery's excellent numbers this season as well. I think once Chicago comes back down to earth, we will see Crawford of old return as well.
If you can get the guy to give up Seguin for Crawford, I'd do it in a heartbeat, but that might be a tough sell. What are you going to do about a second goaltender? Hope Markstrom sticks? Why not try offering up Crawford for Miller? The second deal looks good too, as Yak and Skinner should become keepers, Iginla ages and JJ will still be in Columbus. Either way I make the move if you can, but I think people will realize Crawfords value is very inflated right now. |
Exactly Kofax.
I believe my team has the strength to compete for first, but this year went all in the drain due to poor performances from key players, specially my D and Brown, amongst others. Since I'm looking to compete in two years, I don't mind keeping Markstrom and he having poor year next year. I figure, Theo's UFA at the end of this year, gets moved, Scott Clem has 2 years and helps Markstrom develop. The owner has Miller, but I'm super weak at center, thus the trade offer for Seguin. Can Seguin pull a Stamkos? |
