Slava Voynov
I've always thought this kid had talent but never the opportunity because of the presence of DD and JJ historically. I also think a lot of people forgot about Voynov this year because DD was so dominant during last year's playoff run while Voynov played a more defensive role and was relegated to "safer" minutes.
I've quietly followed him all season and his ice time continues to creep up higher and higher. A huge chunk of his points this season have been at ES, an encouraging sign, but more recently he has also started getting decent PP time which can only help his point production (as he showed last night). More important than the stats suggest though is the fact that he is playing with a ton of confidence out there, and he looks rock solid. His +/- reflects his play and the coach has been rewarding him by playing him in key situations. Similar to how OEL upstaged Yandle in PHX, I think a similar situation could be unfolding in LA between Voynov and DD. This may be his breakout year. If he's still on the wire in your league, I'd suggest a close look. |
Good points. He's been my best dman along with Yandle. Thank The Lord cause the rest of the, stink!!! Yes I'm looking at you j Carlson!

I think in most leagues the time to snatch him up off the wire has already come and gone. I play in a 12-team league with mainly friends with only 6 or 7 of them really on the ball and he was already taken at the beginning of last week.

Just picked him up this morning, hoping he keeps up his production of late.

Having acquired Voynov last season as a throw-in on a trade and having a farm spot to protect him - I did so, much to my delight now. Another thing I did early this season was add Franson to all of my fantasy teams. Couldn't be happier with the results to date, in both cases.

I'm stoked too. I traded Pavelski and Larsson last year for Crawford and Voynov. Looking great now ;)

I picked up Voynov a few years ago, and he's stashed on farm. Haven't brought him up yet, as my starting 5 are Keith, Letang, Streit, Phaneuf & Yandle, but he's there, ready for any injury situation. And Shoeless, I'm a Franson man too. I'm ecstatic to see his progression and blossoming under Carlyle. He's finally getting a chance, and taking advantage of it. Franson & Phaneuf manning the point on PP1 is a beautiful thing to us Franson owners! |
I always hate to tote my own horn(no I love it ;-)) but about 2years ago I stated that J.J was done in L.A and Voynov was an absolute stud in the making. Only people who agreed were blaze and the dearly departed MT (may he rest in peace). Brush your shoulders off blaze he's the real deal kid! Just so u know in the same post I said Carlson will be surpassed by Orlov in Wash. If not for the injury this would have already happened. Grab him now if you still can. In 12 months he is #1 in Wash!

Another 3 pointer tonight... boom shakalaka!

Very happy with his quick progress. I must say the production this year is quite unexpected. I acquired him last year as a second piece in a trade that had me sending Bachman and paajarvi for Schwartz and voynov.
