Tyson Barrie
Is he for real? 5 points in 12 game, 1 line and 1 pp. Colorado have not a deep def squad. So, he will play a lot and the number will go up, still just 21. What is upside.

I'd say his upside is 40-50 points. He's doing a nice job of QBing the PP and in my view is getting better the more games he gets in. |
Definately the real deal. He's a stud with the puck, makes smart pinches all the time, and he's a one man breakout, something Colorado has been missing on the back end since Liles was dealt.

I'm still not sold on Barrie just yet.. Be careful investing too much into this guy.. Most of the people who love Barrie and call him "the real deal", are either Av's fans or Barrie owners..

I'm not sold on Barrie but yeah, he has upside.
Just like R Ellis, B Smith, all these guys have upside. I agree that Col will probably try to nurture Barrie into becoming a #1 and give him a lot of chances so he could definitely be a good pick moving forwards. |
Just received this in my Fantrax news box egarding Barrie. Not sure yet if he'll be sent back down or not but this didn't come with a source.
"Tyson Barrie will not be healthy scratch Coach Joe Sacco said that Tyson Barrie will not be a healthy scratch when the Avs get all their defensemen back in action. The Avalanche currently are missing Erik Johnson and Ryan Wilson but both are ready to return to action, perhaps as early as Wednesday. Joe Sacco stated that Barrie needs to play and would rather have him play a lot with the Lake Erie Monsters rather than languish in the press box with Colorado as a healthy scratch. Barrie has been the Avs top offensive threat on the blueline with a goal and six points in 13 games tying him in points with Jan Hejda." |
Not sure if this is CBS blowing smoke because I can't find anything "official" yet, but its reporting that with Erik Johnson coming back tonight Barrie will be a healthy scratch.
"News: Erik Johnson (concussion) will play Friday against the Blackhawks, Adrian Dater of the Denver Post reports. Analysis: Erik Johnson will be in action Friday for the first time since Feb. 11, so Tyson Barrie will head to the press box as a healthy scratch." |
You're right. EJ back. Barrie not active in the boxscore. What value does he hold from here on out do you think?
