Studs & Duds - Sunday 2/17

Studs

I am coming for you Vanek! – Sidney Crosby is in 2nd place in NHL scoring after putting up 1G and 2A against the Buffalo Sabres. Crosby, being sick and tired of not being the “man” that everyone is talking about has taken matters into his own hands and has gone on a tear is the last 3 games scoring 2G and 5A for 7pts.

Kneel before your King! – Your Majesty, Henrik Lundqvist showed everyone in the NHL that the King is here. Lundqvist stopped 27 of 28 shots against the Washington Capitals including all 9 shots from the Capitals Power Play in getting his 4th straight victory.

Popping your Cherry – Everyone remembers the first time. Being nervous, having sweaty palms and/or diarrhea didn’t detour Ryan Kessler, Henrik Sedin, Roman Horak, Matt Stajan, Steve Begin, Jason Zucker or Torrey Mitchell from scoring their first goals of the season.

Duds

Number 8 not so great
– Alex Ovechkin went another game with no goals or no points. It is hard to believe that “Ovie” used to be the best player in the NHL just a few years ago. Many fantasy hockey managers are wondering what happened? Maybe it is the girlfriends fault?

Not the Flames again!
– Dallas Star goaltender Richard Bachman must feel like he is on The Nightmare on Elm Street as he is having nightmares against the Calgary Flames. Bachman gave up 4 goals on just 26 shots last night bringing his 2 game total against the Calgary Flames to 10 goals on just 48 shots.

Reese’s Pieces

Mike Richards 2 Power Play goals
Pascal Dupuis – 2 goals and 1 assist
Joey MacDonald - First win as a Calgary Flame
Dallas Stars – First loss in regulation after leading after 2 periods in 79 games
Mike Cammalleri – 4 goals against Dallas, zero against the rest of the league
