Alex Burmistrov

Can anyone tell what is happening with this player? I picked him up from the wire based on upside and 3YP dobber provides in his guides and thinking it's' a good gamble.

But seriously, is there any kind of sign that he will be an offensive producer in the next 18-24 months? What is wrong thus far?

Any insight would be welcomed!

Thanks

Nothing is wrong. He's a kid in his third full season, and he's being brought along slowly. The good thing is that his defensive game is solid for a young player. He's slowly being given more opportunity; he started the season playing 12-14 minutes a game, and lately he's been getting 17-18, with some time on the second line and on the PK. The offensive progress is slow, but in a couple years he should be a solid contributor.

As far as his skill-set, he's incredibly slick with the puck, very, very strong on his feet for a guy his size, and he's patient and creative in the offensive zone. He's got a great attitude, too. He listened to the Jets' recommendation and developed in the AHL during the lockout, when he could have gone to the KHL and made more $. Give him time.

It is easy to say 'be patient' but it all depends on what the cost of that is to your roster. What does keeping him sitting around doing nothing do to you team? Does he have to be a roster player? If you drop him, who to you pick up instead?
