Gaming - Dead Space 3

Any of you into this series? I'm always down for a good horror/survival game and really liked the first 2. Lights off with surround sound they freaked the shit out of me at points.

Game comes out today and I already ordered it from Amazon. It's backed up behind a few others in my playing queue, but I'd be surprised if no one on here liked it.

Isaac Clarke forever.

I really liked the first one, never played the second one though. Read very mixed reviews that got me to hold off on buying it. At such a rock bottom price, five dollars, I'm gonna pick it up to prep me for DS3. Still won't buy it today, but I'm hoping DS3 is great. What other games are in priority over DS3 for you?

Nice, I would definitely go for 2, I found many things to be an improvement over the first game and the first maybe 20 minutes of that game are really, really riveting. I'll avoid spoilers, but let's just say some elements from the first one return and are done really well.

I actually have some other 3rd games sitting front of DS3 (and large ones, at that). I'm halfway through Assassin's Creed 3 right now and have Far Cry 3 lined up after that.

I loved the first two and also recently played DS: Extraction which was a bit different.

I am sure I will get around to DS3, might wait til the price drops a bit though.

I just started playing this today - its good but there are two aspects which I really don't like about it...

The weapon crafting - seriously, f@ck off with the ridiculously over-complicated crap they keep doing with some games. There are way too many options, parts and blueprints to go through - I don't want to spend hours trying to put weapons together. I don't want 30+ options for weapons - give me 5 or 6. They tried way too hard with this and for me, I don't even want to bother with it.

The co-op. Another trend that is really pissing me off - you have to go online and play with someone else to do certain levels. They are optional and you don't need them to complete the storyline, but there are certain collectibles and a lot of trophies that can only be obtained this way. I hate multiplayer, even co-op. HATE IT.

The storyline is good, graphics are great - a lot of what makes Dead Space a great series is still there - but godammit those two things are really pissing me off.

Modded a gun to have the good ol' Ripper, never crafted another gun after.

Wasn't a fan of DS3 though, story was mired by side events that just ruined it for me. I agree with you on the co-op. I like to play games solo and I read the co-op character story is actually interesting. Being forced to play someone else to discover it though, meh.

DS1 was way better for me. I found it far more terrifying to be trapped on a ship wondering what's around the next corner and knowing I couldn't leave.

I haven't played DS1 in awhile, but it feels like Dead Space went all Resident Evil. They tried so hard to make fast paced action and I just don't care for it. What happened to the scare factor? *sigh*

Dead Space isn't survival horror anymore. That plus the microtransactions and wedged-in 2nd character means I'm passing on DS3. Pity, I loved the first one and really enjoyed the second. I'm just voting with my wallet on this one. EA ordered Visceral to dumb the game down and make it more attractive to the Call of Duty crowd and then forced them to add those retarded microtransactions that no one wants. Idiotic. **** you, EA.

TundraArc 04-05-2013 11:45 PM

I remember reading EA claims that their customers like microtransactions. Who are they kidding?
Only reason I got DS3, for free, was due to the gigantic flop of a debut from SimCity. That game left a hole in my heart...
Then I played Bioshock Infinite and forgot all about EA. :D
