Apparently Byfuglien missed the morning skate and is a game time decision:

That's all I've heard, too. My guess is he sits tonight, as the Jets play again tomorrow. I hope I'm wrong, though.

That's my feeling too, especially when this kid Redmond says with a high degree of certainty that he's "on the board and will play". Not much speculation there.

Still no official word, but this from the Arctic Ice blog:

Zach Redmond could make his Winnipeg Jets debut, Dustin Byfuglien a game time decision versus Florida Panthers

By TJ Maughan on Jan 31, 12:49p 24

USA TODAY Sports

After waiting diligently in the press-box for the past six games, Zach Redmond will make his Winnipeg Jets' debut later tonight against the Florida Panthers.

As reported by Kirk Penton of the Winnipeg Sun, rookie defenseman Zach Redmond will make his NHL debut tonight, suiting up as the Jets' square off against the Florida Panthers in the front-end of Floridian back-to-backs:

Currently, it's uncertain who Redmond will draw in for. Defensive catalyst Dustin Byfuglien appears to be a game time decision, so it's very possible that Redmond come in to fill the void left by Big Buff.

Although Claude Noel won't commit to idea of Redmond's insertion, the other possibility would be that he replaces one of Paul Postma or Grant Clitsome, a duo who have had their fair share of hard luck so far this season.

No byfuglien tonight.

“@TheScouts: Byfuglien officially not playing tonight.”

“@saraorlesky: No Dustin Byfuglien for #nhljets”

Yeah, just heard that in a pre-game interview with Noel. Nuts. Hope it's not something that lingers all season or keeps him out long. He's been amazing at both ends of the ice this season, for the most part.

Dustin Byfuglien's undisclosed injury is related to his lower body.
So at least we know that now. Byfuglien aggravated something that prevented him from playing on Thursday. He will also miss Friday's contest against Tampa Bay.

Byfuglien was forced to miss tonight's game after running out of Hostess brand Twinkies. He was injured while frantically running up and down grocery store aisles in a vain attempt to find more.
