Backstrom for Getzlaf
 

Been offered Nicklas Backsrtom Caps center for Getzlaf in a full keeper salary cap league. Stats counted are G,A,+/-, pims, SOG's, FOW,s ppg, ppa, shp.

Their stats are very similar with Backstom being a little younger 25 vs 27.
Backstom has an escalating contract starting at $6 mil this season and next then increasing by a 1/2 mil every second year until he hits $8 mil in 2019-20.
Getzlaf earns 6.1 mil this season then becomes a UFA and in a position to break the bank.
Backstrom has had an injury plagued couple years while Getzlaf flat out sucked last season.
Getzlaf plays with Perry (this year anyway) while Backstrum has Ovie

Who would you want?

I'd take Backstrom.
Getz could get a big payday this summer, and his production isn't at Backstrom's level. Even last year, when Ovy was sucking it up, he was putting up solid stats.

Even with pims, I would take Backstrom. I own both and I would easily move Getzlaf before Backstrom.

I'd take Backstrom too.
Getzlaf's new contract should fetch him $7m-$8m per season.

I also worry about bigger forwards.
I always feel like they are going to start to fall apart with age.
