Studs & Duds - Sunday 1/27
Studs
Little guy, Big Heart – Martin St. Louis continues to amazes even at the ripe old age of 37. Playing shotgun to the best pure goal scorer in the NHL in Steven Stamkos, St. Louis upped his season point total to 11 points with a 4 assist night against the Philadelphia Flyers. He is on fire! – Of course I am talking about Patrick Marleau. This guy is the story of the NHL season so far by scoring his 9th goal of the season in just his 5th game of the season! Marleau now has 13 points on the season and is tied for the league lead with team mate Joe Thornton. Brick Wall(s) – Both Marc-Andre Fleury and Craig Anderson put their game faces on today in this goaltending duel. Fleury made 31 saves for the win and Anderson made 33 saves for a SO loss. Honorable mention: Alex Ovechkin scores first goal the year. Duds Why did I play tonight? - Kyle Brodziak had one of those games where he should of stayed home. Brodziak was a -4 had no shots on goal and only won 6 of 17 face-offs. Red Light District - Michael Leighton, Niklas Backstrom and Evgeni Nabokov all felt the goal light go off on the back of their necks 5 times each. Power Outage – Vancouver’s power play goes 0-7 in loss to San Jose. With guys like the Sedins, Burrows and with their talented defensemen there is no way they should not get at least one goal on seven chances. |
If I may??
I'd like to thank Thornton, Parise, Tavares, Moulson and Pietrangelo for their performances this evening. |
Very nice S&D.
